Alaska man takes firetruck on joyride, drives 15 miles to bar

An Alaska man allegedly broke into a local firehouse, stole a truck, then drove with the sirens on for about 15 miles until reaching a bar in a neighboring town, a report said Monday.

That honestly sounds like fun.

When I was stationed in the Philippines, the Americans trained, equipped and used locals for the base fire department. If needed, they also assisted with firefighting off base.

A couple of enterprising firefighters came up with the idea to make some quick money by pulling up to the outbound gate (both directions were controlled) with lights and sirens blaring as if they were headed out to assist in fighting a fire off base. Not thinking twice about it, the guards threw up the barricade to allow them through. A $100,000 fire truck drove out to never be seen again.
