More bothered by not having Yan if I'm being honest.

Actually think both corners are playing pretty good.

I wish we kept Calais at least, he would help a lot imo.

Is "maybe, maybe not" a legitimate opinion?  I can see it from both sides.  Calais is getting pretty old, and he would have cost us $17 million.  Besides, no one thought we had any chance of having a decent team this year even if we had not traded him.

Hindsight is 20-20.  If we had kept him, maybe we could have made the playoffs this year.  But if our goal was to make the playoffs in 2021, then it was right to trade him.

Yan would definitely help with the pass rush, but I'm starting to wonder if he wasn't part of the problem with the run defense last year.

It's a young man's game.

I love Calais to death, but it seems like the team has turned a corner with respect to malcontents and improvisation. I'd like to see how our D would have fared the past two weeks with Bouye and Campbell, but I also enjoy that we are getting younger guys on the field, and not seeing drastic dropoffs in performance. We've already seen Bouye go down with injury, time catches up to everyone.

It's early in the season. Right now, we might be asking what if.... let's revisit this a few weeks down the road. I think we're ok.

No.  As much as I liked both players, I think the team needed to move in a new direction, and these were players who represented significant cap savings that will allow this team to rebuild effectively.  Coughlin, for all his great attributes, was a train wreck when it came to managing salary cap and keeping the roster competitive.  The quagmire he put the team in this time around had to be addressed.  They did it pretty dramatically, but it was necessary.

I also wish we would have kept Campbell, but honestly, I don't think Calais would have made enough of a difference to matter this year.  It was actually beneficial to him to let him go.  He's on a far better team where he can wind up his career with at least a little bit of success.  It sucks for us, but the Jags aren't going to be much better than a .500 team.  His contribution probably wouldn't have added a win to the year.  This team needed a youth movement, and Caldwell opted to rip the bandaid off and go all in with that.  We all knew it might be painful this year, but surprisingly, they have been better than expected.  The defense is a concern, especially with no real pass rush, but they'll get that figured out eventually.  In the meantime, we've got a ton of draft capital and a mountain of cap money to do it right.
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
