When I had my truck lifted, the dealership gave me a dodge truck as a rental for the day. I figured I’d knock out some running around while I waited. After about half a day, I decided they could keep the truck and I waited in the lobby for the next 4 hours.

I do know a few people with Jeeps (as I’m sure we all do). They all seem to love them and they are pretty damn cool. I wouldn’t want one as a daily driver though. It’s not made for tall people.

Just my opinion.  When Chrysler took over jeep they destroyed the vehicles.  In the past we owned both a Cherokee and a Grand Cherokee.  Both were "good" vehicles for around 2 years or 40,000 miles.  After that they just started "falling apart".  I also owned a Dodge truck 20 or so years ago that I drove for 10+ years.  It did well, but I got tired of it "nickel and diming" me to death with stuff that failed.  It had plenty of power, but would also "gulp" the fuel.

I have two trucks that I am very happy with right now.  A 2016 F150 that is my "daily driver" and a 2010 F350 that is my "workhorse".  My wife is ready to get rid of her Nissan Pathfinder (2014) and is going to get a F150 once we move to our new home.

I refuse to buy any GM (chevy) product.

I do love the Fords.  I’ve owned 3.    All have been great trucks.  I’ve had a Silverado once.  All I’ll say is it didn’t work(out) for me.  Not to get into the Ford/Chevy silliness.  Ford has always been good.  At least since the early 90’s when I started to actually drive them. I’m sure before then as well.  Ford has recently decided to go all in on the trucks and suvs.  Bringing back the Bronco, which I’m curious about (though I’m sure in April I’ll be told I can’t buy one, haha). And discontinuing a bunch of the cars, except the mustang of course.   Fun fact: In the US the F150 sells almost 1million units.  Number one selling vehicle in the US.  2nd on the list is Silverado.  Sells just over half that.   That’s impressive, Ford knows how to do a truck!

My first was a 93 xl reg cab long bed with dual fuel tanks and the inline six.  I’d pay a good bit to have another one just like it!   Bare bones but man I loved that girl.

It would constantly get condensation in the distributor and I had to carry a can of wire dryer with me everywhere I went just to get the damn thing to start. I finally flipped it on my way home from the last day of high school and totaled it. I wasn't really sad to see it go either.

My last 2 cars were Dodges, a 75 Coronet with a 318 and a 78 Magnun with the 400 special in it....... I loved those cars. you couldn't kill them no matter what you did

Idk what’s up with the rangers.  The joke in the truck is that you’ll rarely see one with a bumper.  Low and behold, about 90% of the ones we see don’t have a bumper.  Normally it’s the front one.  Occasionally it’ll be the rear.  So I ask you, did yours have a bumper? And if so, was that an added option you had to pay extra for?   Big Grin

The F-series are usually top notch.

It definitely had a bumper when I bought it. It didn't have much when I was finished totaling it though. The cab on the drivers side was smashed down to the steering wheel and the bed was mangled. Luckily, I wasn't wearing a seat belt and when it flipped, so I was tossed over to the passenger side which didn't get smashed down. I was able to pop the back window and crawl out. I didn't notice if the bumper stayed on after the accident though. LOL

Well, I’m glad you survived , rather unscathed it sounds like, even better.  But if I had to put money on it, that bumper was GONE!  Seriously, take a look around.  See a ranger, not the new ones, and see if it has a bumper.  I bet it doesn’t!

Yeah I've heard nothing but bad things about Rangers and nothing but good things about F-series.

The Ranger had, and has, a lot more Mazda parts in it.  You're not the only one who is sour on Rangers.  Ford didn't bother trying to sell them in the US or Canada from 2012 to 2018.

Pretty sure the F-series has been the best American made truck the whole time I've been alive.  Heard good things about Toyota trucks though, if you're open to buying non American.

Only a few cuts and bruises and one of a string of concussions I've had over the years. The cop didn't even cite me for not having a seat belt on. He said since I would've been dead if I was wearing one, he was gonna let it slide. LOL.

I did not know that. 

My mechanic drives a '94 Toyota truck with almost 300,000 miles. The engines last forever, but the beds rust to almost nothing. Eventually, you almost have to replace the beds on them. 

The money from Toyotas may go back to Japan, but it seems like almost all of them are manufactured in the U.S. There are a couple Toyota plants not too far from me. One in Indiana and one in Kentucky, so at least they are supplying U.S. jobs.

I love my Silverado. 2002 LT 1500 it has over 240K miles on it and I have never had major issues. I replaced my alternator back in '09 which was easy until I had to put in the new serpentine belt. I've never cussed so much in my life. Lol. But I love that model year because everything is easy to get to under the hood.

The one expense I don't like is replacing the tires. We have mixed weather here so I don't buy cheap tires, but they're not super expensive either. I'd just rather spend money on other things. By the look at gas prices today ($2.50/gal) and a 23 gallon tank it looks like I'll be putting more $$ into that. Oh yay.

How do you put a million miles on a truck in 9 years? That seems almost impossible. That guy must've never been home. That truck is also very clean for being 9 years old. It had to be garage kept, although with that many miles I think it's hardly ever been parked long enough to see a garage.

I have a 2008 Ford F150. I really want to upgrade, but I have almost no problems with it. It drives like a champ. The maintenence costs are going up each year, but it's peanuts compared to a payment. It's still a pretty truck, too.
