We must split first team reps to see if Minshew has the goods to be the starter week 1.

Week 1 of the preseason, 67 offensive snaps.
  - Beathard took 25 or 37%
  - Luton took 16 or 24%
  - Lawrence took 15 or 22%
  - Minshew took 11 or 16%

Week 2 of the preseason, 82 offensive snaps.
  - Lawrence took 34 or 41%
  - Minshew took 33 or 40%
  - Beathard took 15 or 18%

Week 3 of the preseason, 67 offensive snaps.  (Dak Prescott didn't take a snap, by the way.  There was great concern on these boards that Lawrence was being exposed to undue risk by taking snaps.)
  - Luton took 38 or 57%
  - Lawrence took 17 or 25%
  - Beathard took 12 or 18%

Or, "We must keep Minshew warm in case Lawrence isn't able to be a rookie starter.  As soon as it's clear Lawrence can start regular season games then the Minshew tap is shut off."
I was more referring to the important practice reps and not pre season games…..

Are you implying it was smart to split reps between Lawrence and Minshew for weeks in practice?

I think that first game vs the texans was going to be a loss no matter what. More reps or less. Trevor was in full rookie qb mode. Maybe with more run game in the play calling it could have made it closer.

Dak is a 6 year Vet who was coming off injuries, of course he didn't play in the preseason.

The fact that they traded Minshew 2 days after announcing Trevor the starter just proved how stupid and pointless that whole QB "competition" really was. They took away reps, reps, reps, reps from Lawrence for a guy they never had any intentions on keeping/playing in the first place. The whole situation was a joke and everybody knew it. It's pathetic that it even happened.

It's easy to make arguments when you ignore what's been said before.  You're particularly good at it.

They had to keep Minshew warm until it was certain Lawrence could start.  How green was he in the first three weeks?   Hopelessly green, that's how much.  The Jags went backwards on last year to start this year.  The org had to decide whether TLaw was good enough to start and learn on the job or whether he need time in the number two spot before starting.  Of course they always hoped to start Lawrence and move Minshew on.  But Lawrence had to achieve a minimum level of competency before they could do that.  And it's obvious that after week 2 of the pre-season they decided to pull the trigger and go backwards to go forwards (which is what happened).

You guys tie yourselves into some horrendous knots in order to convince yourselves that you're all geniuses and everyone at Jacksonville is a moron.

It was obvious to anybody with eyes the moment the two stepped on the field together and threw the football side by side. So save me with that bull [BLEEP] bud. Lawrence has more natural ability in his little finger than Minshew does in his entire body. I like Minshew and all but it was never close and never should have been dragged on until 2 weeks before game 1. All it did was hurt Trevor's reps, reps, reps that you're now trying to preach.

Still debating the preseason? Let's move on back to the regular season now perhaps

You want to ignore that the garbage decisions in preseason are a huge part of why this team is 1-5 instead of 3-3 or better. But winning isn't important as long as we show "progress."

Winning is important.  This is the first time most of these key players are playing together in season 1. it's only a small number of games in. There has been some progress that is exciting.  A long way to go, but that's to be expected after a 1-15 season. Keep the hope and optimism and enjoy the ride.

Hey, in that 3rd pre-season game it sure looked like Lawrence had developed quite the rapport with a lot of those backup receivers.  Then we dumped them all at final cuts.

Yea that was a bad drop by Jones, but that hasn't really been the norm for him this season.

Viska developing stone hands this year is far more concerning.

The worst part is the impressive Ole`! given by the left tackle of the DEnd could attempt to decapitate our QB.

Preliminary word is that it's an ankle injury, hope it's nothing major.
