Cap space for next season…

I guess it depends if Engram is here next year or not.  Assuming he's franchised, Engram is a top 16 TE already.  This team in 2023 needs a top 16 Center way (way!) more than it needs a top 3 TE.  We need to fix what we're terrible at, not what we're already adequate at.
My fellow southpaw Mark Brunell will probably always be my favorite Jaguar.

Are we really casually talking about cutting Jenkins and RRH? I get tough decisions are coming, but Christ

Not casually

Out of necessity

Personally, I'm keeping RRH.  But I can get on board with a farewell to Jenkins. Gotta weigh his gaffes against his big plays and think the gaffes have as much or more weight.

Can we cut Scheriff without a ton of dead money? He is way overpaid!

Cutting Jenkins and Griffin (without re-signing any UFAs) they are still <$1 million over the cap.

The only other viable option would be Robertson-Harris which would give up around $6 million in space.

But I'm sure they will try to re-structure guys like Scherff, Williams, and Fatukasi which would help a lot.

But hard to see a world where Griffin and Jenkins are back year. Seem like sure cuts.

Arden Key just said he wants to be here next year and he thinks he will be. It's just up to Trent

Griffin is gone
I think Rayshawn or RRH (one not both) will be gone

Seems like half of his bad plays are when he's shading to the center to help Fortner and he's been playing hurt.

They need to draft a stud guard and restructure Scherff and let Bartch, Scherff and the rookie battle - whomever doesn't start is improved depth. r

Fortner and Shatley are way worse than a healthy Scherff. Im trying to stay optimistic about Fortner improving after a rough rookie year, but he gave up a [BLEEP] ton of pressures this year.

I have no clue what Engram will want in his next contract, but you can't be paying Ridley, Kirk, Jones, and Engram all that money. Paying your 3/4 options in the passing game >$10 million a year ain't how you build a team.

Can't cut Jones without penalty.

No his dead cap hit would be more than if we just keep him.  Hopefully he'd be willing to restructure the contract.

I’m on the fence with Engram. He’s a good set of hands but not a true TE. He’s a WR hybrid. We need more size; constantly contentious on crossover routes and red zone plays. Someone who can brutalize a catch and a couple more YAC.

He's a damn good blocker as well.  He's improved in that regard a ton since being drafted

The conventional TE is vastly overrated.

How many are there in the league? Engram is an average blocker but he is very good in space. I’ll take that TE any day of the week. Engram and Key should be top priority for current Jags this off season.

Engram must be resigned

No.

We have to start thinking differently.  Engram is a really good player, I want him on the team.  That said, he's 28.  This is his last payday.  We don't have 15 mill to give him and he doesn't have 6 premium ears to warrant a longterm cap friendly deal.

We have 16. You just plug guys around him.

Not if it’s a good one. The problem is finding guys who possess that body combo type of length, strength, and mass, with the ability to leverage it. Gronks and Kelces aren’t laying about, but if you can find one, get him.

Also, you have to mention 16. Franchise QBs has "gravity". By that I mean, a guy like am ENGRAM, KEY etc. May take considerably less for the chance @ hardware.

We have a shot between Mayer, Kincaid and Washington at 24.

They could even look at Musgrave in RD2. LaPorta in RD3. Mallory in RD4 as well as Kuntz.
