He's a gamechanger for sure.
I'd do what it takes to pry him away if it was possible. I prayed to the football Gods a few weeks ago in a general thread let's hope that works. Quote:I think they would use the exclusive tag to avoid a team stealing him away. Yeah there isn't a snowballs chance in hell he leaves the Broncos. We show less advertisements to registered users. The Broncos 2015 Defensive impact reminds me of the impact the Ravens Defense had in the 2000 season. In both of those Super Bowls, the QBs were basically along for the ride. The Broncos might be better off trying to keep their Defense intact, with the plan of investing far less $ in the QB position in the short run. Putting emphasis on a QB who protects the football instead. The Ravens got cute in trying to upgrade their QB situation with Elvis Grbac and that backfired big time.

Trent Dilfer was the Ravens QB in 2000. Brock Osweiler will be a free agent next month. The Broncos need to pay him ASAP because other teams need QBs. However your post does make me think the Broncos should draft a QB in April. Quote:Trent Dilfer was the Ravens QB in 2000. Trent Dilfer was the Ravens QB in 2000. Yet, he was discarded despite fitting the puzzle of a team that had a dominant Defense and strong running game. All Dilfer had to do basically is not lose the game and make an occasional key throw with opponents focus on containing the run. Basically, my point is that unless the Broncos believe Brock Osweiler is a Franchise QB, they shouldn't invest big money in him if it's going to cost them one or more starters on Defense that contributed greatly to the Broncos having a differential Defense in the 2015 season. Wasn't Grbac so awful that he retired following the season? The 2000 Ravens were the only team I've seen where run-run-pass-punt was a successful offense.
Quote:lol I remember that. Elvis Grbac retired after the Ravens cut him because he did not want to play for another team. Quote:lol I remember that.Out of my own curiosity I did a quick Google search. It looks like he was cut after that first season, was willing to take a big pay cut but the Ravens wanted him to take even less. He negotiated with one or two teams briefly after being cut. He was offered a deal by the Bengals but it wasn't enough for him to move his family again. He then decided to retire versus start over in a new city and make his family move once again. Quote:lol I remember that. Yes. Elvis Grbac was a salary cap casualty after signing a lucrative contract with the Ravens the previous winter. One and done in Baltimore. Grbac made the sensible decision to leave the NFL after the 2001 season instead of trying to linger on elsewhere. For sure, the main thing for the 2000 Ravens on Offense was not to turn over the ball. In last night's Super Bowl after Peyton Manning's fumble that led to the FG that cut the score to 16-10, the Broncos followed the same strategy except on the 3rd Down pass in which Defensive Holding was called in the End Zone. As it turned out, Jared Allen came close to getting to Peyton Manning on that play. A fumble and even worse a fumble returned for a TD by the Panthers would have been talked about even more than the Seahawks decision to throw in the final minute of regulation time in the previous Super Bowl. Nothing that happened in Santa Clara would be talked about more than Russell Wilson's interception to Malcom Butler except the fact that Peyton Manning declined to announce his inevitable retirement.

I disagree based on the scenario I mentioned above, assuming the Broncos would have gone on to lose the game. Based on how well the Broncos Defense was playing and the struggles Peyton Manning was having in protecting the football and with mobility, that 3rd Down throw was too risky. He'll be a hot topic of conversation this week. |
