After seeing what happened in the NBA again with an impact player deciding to sign with another team,   the thought the comes to mind is thankfully from a fan perspective the NFL has a Franchise Tag option each year.

Quote:RIP the relevance of the OKC Thunder. Now they'll be another small market throwaway like the Jazz, Magic, Bucks, Kings.

The last time the Bucks truly had national impact is when they had Kareem Abdul Jabbar.

KD could have brought Boston back to relevancy. What a shame.

Someone posted a KD tweet from 6 years ago making fun of people joining the Heat and Lakers....

These "super teams" are absolutely ruining the NBA. I wish players would stay put and build their own legacy instead of running off to join their rivals.

The NBA is almost approaching college basketball in terms of being unwatchable.

Gasol is great signing by Spurs. Let's not forget about one of the best run franchise in professional sports.

KD looking to win a championship the easy way. Bummm

I can't blame KD, everyone is obsessed with rings anymore, and people always point to the 'greats' who didn't have them and say they weren't as good because they didn't get any. Its a natural consequence of the 'everyones a loser who doesn't win a championship.' Its the over-correction for the 'everyone gets a participation trophy.' Both point of views are stupid, and it seems like no one cares about working for one team anymore cause the teams aren't loyal either. First the teams dump players, then the players dump the team, then the fans dump the sport.

Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster

Lebron started all of this with his move to the Heat back in the day. That's why I will never root for that guy.

Because it wasn't a trade.

if they can block a trade they should be able to block a player from going to a certain team

Why don't they just pick and choose which teams get what players?

A joke of league would be even more comical if it were that way.

Its different because A)It wasnt a trade and B)The NBA owned Chris Paul's team.

Pretty much. They had some decent years in the late 90's/early 2000's with Ray Allen and Michael Redd. But not much else.

I don't disagree with you. In the long run, this is very bad for the NBA IMO. Some of the contracts role player type guys are getting are absolutely insane, and when it comes time to renegotiate the CBA, all hell is going to break loose.
