If he's the coach I see us being mediocre for a long time....

He's a 6-8 win coach... that much is clear. He's not a playoff caliber coach... oh well...

So if/when he comes back for 2016, what does his record have to be next year for you to think it was the right move to keep him?

8 wins or better and if its 8, it better be one heck of an 8 win season. PERIOD.

Season Tix, Section 409

2023 and still counting.....SB will finally be ours soon enough.

If people notice and pay attention to the coaching rumor mill, none of it involves coaches interested in the Jags, and vice versa.

Gus will be back for 2016.

Ill give you 2 examples why you keep Gus.

Cleveland and Cincinattii

Cleveland has had 7 coaches since 2003 and they are not better but even worse then they were.

Cincinatti has had 1 coach since 2003 and they have improved slowly but continured improving to be a multi time division winner and playoff particiapent.

now i would prefer to have a head coach with smoe NFL experience but unless a top tier coach is available you dont change your coach just to do it. Consistancy is what makes players and teams. changing coaches and OCs every year you cant get the consitency.

If Sean Peyton is available by all means replace Gus but do not replace him with maroney or another anemic head coaching canadite we will end up like the brownies.

Its beyond bust. This team will not go anywhere with Gus at the helm so expect another terrible season next year.

The fallacy in that thinking is Cleveland and Cincinnati are not examples of the entire history of the league. You can cherry pick two examples and throw them out there as proof if you want but they are merely two franchises in a snap shot of the league.

On the other hand, we spent 9 years waiting on Del Rio to produce and that patience never produced. How long to you give a coach before you admit he can't do it?

I would be content if he's replaced this off-season, but I just don't think that happens. For whatever reason, they'll give him ONE more year with a revamped defense. There are literally ZERO/ZILCH/NONE excuses.

Next season they have to find consistency. No more of this up and down junk. I want to see them win a game they maybe aren't supposed to win and DEFINITELY win the games they're supposed to. It's hard to have faith right now, that's for sure.

I will defend JDR though, he had an average at best GM Shack Harris, and an abomination Jean Smiff picking his players. JDR was not a bad coach, his mistake was he changed his demeanor and the players hated it. No coach in NFL history could have survived Jeans Miff and Shack Harris, none.

I think the loss in New Orleans could be the tipping point for Gus. A bad loss in Houston this week possibly seals it.
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Sorry to be rude but your post is totally asinine. You don't keep a crap coach because of being scared of hiring another crap coach. The reason why cleave and sux is because they draft poorly and don't have a franchise qb. On the other example how many times has Marvin Lewis taken the bengals to the playoffs in his tenure? Plus the bengals are now on their second franchise ab and it looks like they found a good qb depth with AJ. Lol wanting to keep Paul scrub Gus Casey Bradley because hes already here. Please don't spread your stupidity here so that other uneducated fans perutuate your stupidity.

Table the pitch forks for one more offseason, we miss the playoffs then roast both Caldwell and Gus
