Dotson or Pickens at 33?
|
Pickens also seems way too risky to me after reading more. The guy has barely even played recently and did not produce a ton before. I see the potential that of his highlights, but the lack of production definitely scares me. You learn a lot by actually playing. His five star high school rating means nothing now.

I agree about Dotson being long gone by pick 33. Pickens may not be ideal there. Having said that I feel BAP at 33 is the smartest move. If that is IOL or ILB, so much the better. Even CB or S if that is truly the top of your board. Lindstrom or Salyer for me at 33 would be tempting. Dean or Mafe at ILB works too. If Watson is there at 33 though, I may take a chance on him for that WR spot.

Problem is that I think Pierce will be gone before 65. So if you feel like he fits us better than Dotson, do you dare ask overdraft him at 33? Or, the Jags could auction off #33 to the highest bidder, net an extra pick or two, and select Pierce at a lower, more value-laden spot.

I'm not gonna reach for a WR just because we need one. I'm either gonna use our #33 and #65 pick to trade up to around #20 to get one of the top WR's or I'm standing at #33 and drafting the BAP regardless of position. I'm not gonna force something that isn't there. Do you have any examples of Pickens' inconsistency? Admittedly I am not well versed on Pickens. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

I'm not gonna force something that isn't there. If you look back at his entire college career, he's never had more than 49 receptions in a season. He has built a reputation for making a couple spectacular receptions during the course of a season, but then he disappears for long periods of time. He can never consistently get open and most of the great catches I've seen him make are contested. He just doesn't seem to get separation despite running a pretty good 40 time. That tells me he is either terrible at running routes or he gets jammed at the line by opposing CB's and it holds him up. Either way, that's a major red flag in his game. He reminds me way too much of Donte' Stallworth. Just too inconsistent.
Well Chiefs and Packers definitely gonna be in the WR market at the end of that first round... I'd definitely support a move up to 20 or so for the jags to get one of the top guys
