PED test incoming

Also - if anyone was wondering who plays SAM on those very few snaps we run a true 4-3...

Lloyd feels like your answer now.

It seems like all of a sudden we have a lot of defensive tackles.  We drafted two, we hired one premium free agent (Armstead), we have Davon Hamilton coming back, there's Roy Robertson-Harris, now the DL coach says Tyler Lacy is squatting 600 pounds.  Plus some others.  That's a lot of defensive tackles.  What are we going to do with all these guys?

Probably yell at many for not being good enough all season.

It is the most rotated position on the field. You NEED a bunch of them.

Last year we carried 6 IDL players on our 53.
(three of them are no longer on our team)

All this means is that we have one clearly improved starter in Armstead and possibly added upgrades at 2 rotational/depth spots.

We needed this tremendously. I hope the early round rookie is ready sooner than later and the later round rookie is worthy of developing. Could really help us out.

Keep in mind that this staff is still talking about Lacy as if he could rotate at either 3T inside, or Big End outside depending on the package/situation. Hopefully he has improved enough to earn more snaps. He was mostly a non-factor last year.

Are you SURE we kept SIX interior defensive linemen last year?

Knock passers down early and often, hopefully.

Yes

They may not all have been active every week, but our 53 man roster included:

RRH
J. Ledbetter
Adam Gotsis
Fatukasi
Hamilton
Angelo Blackson
Ross Blackrock
Tyler Lacy

(That's seven since one of those was brought in when Hamilton was out)

Weren't some of those guys on IR?  I can't believe we had six on the 53 man roster at the same time.

I already touched on that in the prior post. If someone got IR'd of the 6 he got replaced.
yes - there were injuries - NONETHELESS -
The Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2023 football season had 7 rostered interior DL players and 5 of them had 340 snaps or more on the season. They were not all active every single week, but they all saw action.

6 interior DL guys (with one of them having DE flexibility) would not be a shocker for our 53 man roster in 2024.
