I wish the US would cool it with the short corners. Every time I've seen them do it, they don't even manage to get the ball into the box before it gets cleared or taken away.


Keep putting the ball in the box. They have strong attackers,, good things will happen just like last night.

I am with you, it has it's place, but not at the clip they are at it now.

 

The U.S. men have been doing it way to often for my liking as well, with no success.

Dang that's crazy. Off the ball like that is the way to go, if you are going to do that sort of thing. I hope US Women crush Colombia even more now. Almost game time!

I'm not very confident in the US attack going forward in this tournament. Yes, they are deep with players, but something just doesn't seem to be clicking just right, IMO.

Now, their defense has been outstanding, and will probably remain very strong. But, their offense needs some kind of jolt.


Not having 2 starters in the next game should definitely shake things up, hopefully in a positive way. Holiday and Rapino (sp?) have to sit a match. Maybe having Press in there with Morgan could get exciting. Idk, we'll see.


While watching the US, I just don't get the feeling they're more dominant than any of the other solid teams/countries (Japan,Germamy,France,England, etc). Even Australia looks very strong right now, I'm not sure the US would beat them again. It'll be a very tough task to win this tournament.

Their defense is definitley what has been carrying them, and will continue to do so. 

 

Kicking the ball over the defense and letting Wambach run it down is not effective anymore. Wambach doesn't have the juice anymore. They have plenty of talent though to be effective in a 4-3-3, or even their 4-4-2 if they stopped playing the ball over the top anymore.

 

Should be ok against China, but then the road gets tough.

Yeah, I've seen some of the other nations play, but haven't seen China. Are they not as good?


I thought the US would look much better against teams like Nigeria and Colombia. It took a couple really good breaks for the US to overcome those two, even when both of those nations went to 10 players.


If the US advances and has to face Germany, idk if they can win that one.

China isn't terrible, but the U.S. women match up very well. Much more athletic and more speed. They have fared well against them over the last 5 or so years.

Who do you have in Tuesday's match between the U.S. and Germany?
