You do know his name isn't actually Jimbo, right?

I'm not sure if that helps or hurts his case...
Given the scenario I would take Urban Meyer without hesitation.

Do you get Bowden and Spurrier in their Prime or is this right here right now?

The scenario makes it sound like you need to win right now/immediately; so given that, it's tough to argue against Urban.

Yeah, you have to go with Urban in that approach.

After him I'd go Bowden, Saban, Spurrier, Jimbo.

The time machine part of the post kind of answers that question.

I agree with this
Let's see...

Bowden was one of the best recruiters both in terms of player and coaching talent while in his prime. While Urban may be able to compete with Bowden in terms of bringing in playing talent, I think Dad-gum Bobby would probably build a better system. Big knocks on him though because for whatever reason (Wide Right, Wide Left, Wide down the Middle) Bowden had trouble putting away the big game.

If I was running a team, I'd love to have Ol' Ball Coach as my Offensive Coordinator during practices / gameplan development, but then lock him in the equipment room during the game. I am not a fan of Spurrier's playcalling. I've seen him get stubborn way too many times during a game and ending up costing his team dearly for it. But man, could he draw up a passing game.

Jimbo is starting to grow on me. I like how he has seemed to set a good foundation for a solid program that can compete with pretty much any football style that you throw at him. He has had some very good recruiting classes and he seems like he calls a good game. But there's just not enough history for him just yet. Plus, he allows people to call him "Jimbo".

Ol' Nick is as Old School as it gets and I like that he sticks with what he knows, but why all the coaching changes? Why does he just look like a guy that I don't want to have a conversation with? He just seems like a butthead and I really kinda hate buttheads.

Urban knows how to bring in talent and I love how he calls a game. The guy is top notch when it comes to football but he is as slimy as they come. I mean, you bring him in and you know you're going to win, but you're probably also going to have to clean house in about ten years or so.

For me, I'm going with Bowden since he can bring in both kinds of the talent that you need and I'll hope that while he may flub up a few big games, he'll have you in the picture so many times that you'll win a title simply by the Law of Averages.

So True !!
Mini Deetka

I probably would choose Bobby Bowden.  He took over Florida State after they only one 4 games the three previous seasons.    Prior to Bowden becoming the ' Noles HC,  the program never won or even appeared in a major bowl game.  All of their bowl game appearances were 2nd tier or less bowl games.  Bowden made FSU into a National College Football power,  something they never achieved before him.

Even today's Urban could not out recruit Bowden and his staff from the late 80s early 90s Give me Bowden from that time period over any other you can throw out.

2 Saban

3 Urban

4Jimbo

Bowden is one of, if not, the greatest recruiter college football has ever seen, and was without a doubt the greatest closer.

You can't go wrong in this scenario with Bowden, Saban, or Urban.

Assuming we get the coaches in their Prime

1) Spurrier - he owned Bowden.

2) Bowden - extremely innovative in the early days.

3) Saban - slightly ahead of Urb because he put Urb in the hospital.

4) Urb

5) Jimbo -- just needs to prove it now with another group of recruits (post-Winston era)

Can't be paying football coaches when a school is trying to maintain a softball dynasty !!!

If by owned you mean had a losing record against Bowden, yeah you'd be correct.

Yeah, I'm not sure where you're coming from with that statement Hurricane. Granted, Spurrier tore 'em up in the Sugar Bowl in '97 but there was a lot to that. I wouldn't really say either one "owned" the other.
