First off, I'll start with this is a FSU vs. UF thread; however, I feel UM would have the better all-time roster. In my opinion, all-time teams rank UM>FSU>UF.
Anyways, on to the topic at hand. I think all-time FSU wins over all-time UF. FSU's roster even includes players such as Sanders and Janikowski who, on many accounts, are the best players to play their position regardless of the school. I will go over some highlights of why I came to this conclusion.
Quarterbacks - Slight Edge FSU
This position will probably get the most debate as FSU fans despise Tebow and UF fans despise Winston. With that said, I give the edge to FSU. Ward and Winston, two heisman-winning QB's, combine for a 48-3 record. Both were undefeated against UF. Tebow and Wuerffel are also Heisman winning QB's; however, Wuerfell had multiple losses and a tie against FSU.
Running Game - Huge Edge FSU
Dunn had 3 consecutive 1000 yard seasons. He had 3959 career yards with 37 tds. What Dunn adds is his versatility and ability to catch out of the backfield having 1314 career receiving yards and 12 tds. Emmitt Smith had similar rushing stats in less games. However, Smith had a lot more attempts in his career; he averaged 5.6 yards a carry compared to Dunn's 6.9. FSU's Allen adds 3769 career yards, 43 TDS, averaging 6 yards a carry; UF's Rhett adds 4163 career yards, 34 TDS for an average of 4.8 yards a carry.
Receiving Corp - Huge Edge FSU
FSU Sellers has 3598 career yards and 23 TDs, averaging 17.1 per catch. He had 18 100 yard games and 5 200 yard games. Warrick 3517 career yards, 32 TDs, 17.0 average. Biletnikoff 1655 yards, 20 TDs, 16.6 a carry. Carter 777 yards, 7 tds 10.9 average.
UF's Harvin has 1929 career receiving yards for 13 TDS, averaging 14.5 yards a carry. He adds versatility with 1852 rushing yards and another 19 TDs. Alvarez 2563 career yards, 19 TDs, 14.9 average. Hernandez adds 1382 yards for 12 tds, 12.5 average.
Offensive Line - Even
I'll just hit on a few stats. FSU Shiver gave up just 1/2 sack in over 700 snaps. First-team All-American, Jacobs Trophy Winner, 3-time All-ACC CEnter, Lombardi semifinalist. Dukes All-American, during his 4 years FSU ranked top ten in scoring offense, rushing offense, and total offense. In senior year, received Walter Camp and almost every All-American honor. Whittaker All-American. Alex Barron 2-time Consensue All-American. As for UF, Brown is an All-American and Jacobs Blocking tophy winner. Zimmerman was a three-year starter at right guard and played his senior year as a right tackle. He was an All-American at two different positions. Pouncey was an all-SEC selection and consensus All-American. He receieved the Rimington Trophy in 2009. Pearson started and played in 35 games. He was First-team All-SEC and consensus All-American. Odom is an All-American and Jacobs Blocking Trophy winner.
