I'm hoping the question mark is for rhetorical effect and you aren't really that puzzled.

I'm sure you'll be surprised..

I'm just double checking to make sure because you're walking into some very sketchy ethical territory by saying anyone is sub human.

Oh no!  Are you going to report me to the Terrorist Board of Ethical Review?

No, but if you paid attention in history class you'll know bad things happen when people starting using phrases as sub human.

Isn't it AFTER someone does something absolutely despicable like this that someone calls them "sub human", not before?

Are you trying to say that if someone is called "sub human" then they will go out and then commit an atrocity?

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "if you paid attention in history class you'll know bad things happen when people start using phrases as sub human".
Quote:No, but if you paid attention in history class you'll know bad things happen when people starting using phrases as sub human.
LOL.  If you paid attention in life, you would realize bad things happen when bad people do bad things to innocent people.

PS  Sounds like you think the 1st Amendment is a bad idea.

Clearly you didn't pay attention.

The 1st amendment is irrelevant to this discussion because A: I am not commenting of forbidding free speech and B: I am not US Congress.

Don't feel too bad.  I don't think the author understands it either.

History was not my favorite subject, I can admit that.

I'm sure I missed a few things during my time in class.

I don't remember the "bad things happen when people start using phrases as sub human" period of history lessons.

I do remember many of the lessons about the bad and evil (sub human) people/rulers of past times.

You're the one who stated ".....bad things happen when people start using phrases as sub human".

An individual's right to use such a "phrase" is protected by the 1st Amendment.  By extension, your argument thus becomes exercising that constitutional right causes bad things to happen.  I hope I'm not going too fast for you.

I'll spell it out for the both of you: In 1933 in the country next to mine some rather nasty people took over power and they used phrases like sub human to describe certain people. In their language the word was Untermensch. There was a rather large kerfuffle about this and 12 years later it had turned out they murdered some 11 to 12 million of these sub humans. One of the reasons they were able to do this is exactly because they didn't view those 12 million to be humans or even worthy of life itself.

As a result I (and most people on this continent) object to anyone using the phrase sub human about anyone, even people like Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

If you'll look carefully at my posts, you'll see I never once forbade you from using any phrase, nor did I even threaten to do so. What I did was object to a phrase that has massive historical and ethical consequences of which you are clearly unaware. Remember; having the right to free speech does not protect you from anyone other than the government objecting to what you said. It doesn't even protect you from direct punishment from anyone other than the government.

1st Amendment is a great idea.  What's it got to do with anything regarding this subject?

So to summarize your impromptu history lesson, bad people did bad things to innocent people.  Where have I heard that before?  Guns, tanks and gas chambers were the weapons, not phrases.

How they viewed others was not an "enabling" factor, it was the justification for the action.

It established the little known phrase "...the right to not understand the Constitution shall not be abridged." Ben Franklin snuck it in using disappearing ink, as a joke.

I really should have paid better attention to that movie, National Treasure.

 Fixed that for you.
Quote:I'll never cheer the death of another human being.
What about to a guy who would've cheered for your death?

He's a piece of excrement. I'll cheer it all day. In fact, if I could, I'd make it a social event.
