Quote:I'll spell it out for the both of you: In 1933 in the country next to mine some rather nasty people took over power and they used phrases like sub human to describe certain people. In their language the word was Untermensch. There was a rather large kerfuffle about this and 12 years later it had turned out they murdered some 11 to 12 million of these sub humans. One of the reasons they were able to do this is exactly because they didn't view those 12 million to be humans or even worthy of life itself.
As a result I (and most people on this continent) object to anyone using the phrase sub human about anyone, even people like Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.
Right, because all Jews, Roma, and Slavs (including Poles, Serbs, Belarusians, Russians, Rusyns, and Blacks) planted IEDs at the Boston marathon.
Do you really not see the difference between the people sent to concentration/death camps versus a man who plants pressure cooker bombs at a marathon?
Context my friend. He's subhuman.

I disagree.
He is very, very, human.
We're not very pretty creatures sometimes.

You said it better than I could have. It seems like an apples and oranges discussion.

This. So much this.
Humans did this, and are capable of much worse.

And when they commit atrocities like this, or worse, they go from humans to sub-humans.
Some people just believe that humans who do evil things like this, forfeit their human status and should now be classified as something else.
I can't find fault with that way of thinking.

Do you think that the Germans didn't have rationalizations as to why the Jews were Untermenschen? The Nazis would have said that both the jews and the boston marathon bombers would be considered deadly threats to humanity.
I'm not against the death penalty, but I don't think anyone can be labeled 'subhuman'. It's precisely because they're human that when they perform unspeakable acts that they should face the most severe consequences.

I don't really care what rationalization the Nazi party had to call the Jews subhuman. Could you not tell that they were full of crap? It was BLATANTLY obvious that Hitler and his minions were out of their minds, who gives a [BLEEP] about how they rationalized it? When I was little, I thought chocolate milk only came from brown cows, can you not tell the faults in that rationalization either?
Again, if you can't tell the difference between innocent people and a person who plants IEDs at public sporting events, then I don't know what to tell you.

So using this logic. Would pilots that have dropped bombs that killed innocent civilians also be "subhuman"?

1st rule of war is to make the civilian population weary of it and refuse to fight it anymore.
Stuff like the Bomber did just pisses us off
It will unfortunately for the families of victims and survivors, could be decades for him to be executed. Federal system takes a long time and has not had anybody executed since 2003.

They got rid of McVeigh pretty quickly.

The first rule of war is to convince your population that another country is evil, full of subhumans, unworthy of living. And if you don't kill them first, they'll march into your country and kill the men, rape the women, and make your children slaves.
I understand that's what the Japanese rulers said to their population during WW II, anyway.

Never in my time overseas did anyone of importance call the Iraqis subhuman.
In fact, we gave them tons of US military equipment and were under strict orders to treat them with respect.
