When looking at Arrelious Benn, I think it is important to examine how he might fit in a WR rotation. His size, speed and catch radius are similar to Allen Hurns. So it is logical that he could provide Hurns a breather during a game. While he is not the playmaker that Allen Robinson is, his size allows him to be a good downfield blocker for the running game. In a run dominant offense, a WR that can block downfield is an important quality.

Note, that when Marqise Lee pulled his hammy, Benn was the WR that replaced him in the rotation, which I think speaks volumes.

We like volumes. His size, abilities, and potential roles with the team on O and ST are favorable. But preseason performance is going to weigh significantly in those 46-53 spots. He's gonna stick I think, barring some clunkers in preseason.

I saw the Oesh say somewhere the team believes he could be a four core special teamer.
Benn has been a pleasant surprise thus far.  His biggest issues in Tampa Bay and Philadelphia were injury-related.  If he remains healthy through the preseason, I do believe he has a shot to make this roster.  Gus's point, if I remember correctly, was that the 4th and 5th WRs on the roster need to be able to contribute to special teams.

What I find most interesting about Arrelious Benn is the fact that he is coming back from multiple ACL injuries over his short 5 year career. He really has not played much since 2012. Yet, just today Olson described his speed and skillset to be similar to what he remembered when the  two were together in Tampa back in 2012.  His relative success in this most recent comeback with the Jags, does offer a glimmer of hope that it is possible for Justin Blackmon to make a similar comeback perhaps in 2016 with the Jags.

Glimmer of hope that Benn could turn into the big athletic steady wide out he was projected as being.

Value at 5, redzoner, STs...
I like that he's a tad older too. We can use some age and vet experience. Telling story, wish him well.
Props to him for not giving up his dream after 2 ACLs and being cut. Shows a great work ethic and idk if anyone has touched on this but apparently he is helping some of the young guys along

Dude, the Blackmon thing has absolutely nothing to do with Arrelious Benn. They aren't even a little bit related. Blackmon is done as a Jag. I was one of the believers that he was coming back, but it's very obvious it's not gonna happen.
He needs to be a core ST player..  He's looked pretty good at WR in the camp clips I've seen, too.

Benn is much faster than Hurns which is why he was given a shot at split-end when Lee went down. Benn has a chance to be our downfield speedster as a 4.4 guy where Hurns is a 4.55 guy like most of our WRs.

Maybe, but Benn didn't stand out tonight even against the 2nd team defense. Hurns may not have track speed but he gets open deep. He did again tonight against one of our starters (House I think), although he dropped the pass.

His downfall throughout has been his ability to stay on the field. Kind of like Marqise Lee has been. But maybe, we got him on the upswing and we have an OC that worked with him before. Marqise really feels like a liability at this point. I'm not calling him a bust but it's really aggravating. I said Benn could be a guy that fills Lee's shoes in his absence. Not as fast and shifty but not slow and runs with more power.

I don't see Benn as a sub-4.5 WR. What I do see is a big physical WR that can catch a 3 yard reception and stretch it to 6 or 7 with yards after the catch. There is a reason the Jags are running more 3 TE sets with Allen Robinson the main WR in such sets. The Jags are employing a pass oriented ball control West Coast Offense. Bigger WRs that can break tackles and block downfield for Denard and/or Yeldon seems to fit this type of offense. This is why I believe that Benn may get the nod as the 5th WR over Tony Washington, because Washington and Greene are essentially the same slot type WR. I think Harbor or Gerhart will be utilized more as that slot move TE/H-Back than will Greene, although you have to like how Bortles has hit Greene on quick slants in practice.

I see 5 WRs - Allen Robinson, Hurns, Lee, Greene and Benn

I see at least 4 TEs - Julius Thomas, Lewis, Harbor and Koyack

I seer 5 RBs - Yeldon, Denard Robinson, Gerhart, Pierce and Grant

I think Denard Robinson may play some slot WR.

I think Toby Gerhart may play some move TE/H-Back

These two RBs offer positional versatility for our West Coast Offense.

Benn ran a 4.36 at his pro day, and Olson said he looks faster now than before his injury.

To me, Tony Washington looks much faster than Arrelious Benn and I am pretty sure that Washington does not run sub-4.4.

The only other WR with speed that I've been able to document is Bryan Walters and Damian Copeland who both ran a 4.4.

Again, to me, Arrelious Benn looks like a big possession WR. I don't ever seen him challenging Allen Hurns as a starter, but Benn talent-wise may not be that far behind Hurns.

NFL.com's draft profile for Benn generally states good height, bulk, and top end speed, with run after catch skills, but needs work in route running (tight in hips); talent to be a team's second wide receiver. If the Jag's show patience, and let this guy continue to recover from the past injuries, they may have someone that can contribute if called upon from a 4th or 5th WR position.  I see him as a guy with significant upside (and he's still young) for this roster.

I like this guy and really hope he makes the final roster. They've had success picking up other teams throw aways and getting a good player (Sen'derick). I'm hoping this is another player that can be a good contributor. They're really starting to add a bunch of talent! If we have an injury it's not as catastrophic as in years past where you new the next guy up was JUST a guy.
