He has left Notre Dame. Since he graduated, he does not have to sit out a year. He is now on a free agent style tour of campuses. And the list of a who's who of college football.
Florida State, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Florida among the ten schools he is considering.
One report has FSU as the favorite.

I wouldn't call it much of a sweepstakes, he stinks.
I do think he would be a good add for FSU though. They need something to patch the loss of Winston.
Golson is not that good. But FSU's interest says something about how Fisher views Sean Maguire. Maybe the coaching staff's confidence in Maguire is as low as most of the fan base is.
It would be a good get for FSU. I think he's better than people give him credit for. He's a good one year stop gap for FSU while the freshman qb's have a year to learn. I really hope the kid from First Coast becomes productive there.
Makes no sense for UF....may as well give the ball to their best qb on the roster and let him grow.

It makes plenty of sense if the new regime isn't sold on any of the QBs they've inherited.
He'd be foolish the go to UF and play behind that offensive line.

What does a one year stop gap do for them? Give them a couple extra wins for what?
They need to get better over the long term, not the short term.

Because it's not like the NFL where a few wins or losses can change where you draft that year. If they aren't sold on the current QBs and think he is a better option then it makes a ton of sense. Use him and hopefully recruit your own guys to groom and take his spot as soon as possible.
If I'm the Gators I would love to have a stopgate. If Everett could win a few extra games for FLA that would be a good boost for recruiting.

Nah. Grier is going to be good. The more reps he gets this year, that means the better he will be next year.
Give those reps to golson and then greir starts from square one next season.

"A couple extra wins" increases your recruiting chances next year for starters. It would also keep the boosters happy.

This was more my thinking. That guy should be on the roster.

FSU lost there entire line to!
Georgia?

We have depth though. Something UF doesn't really have much of.
Golson will decide on his transfer school tomorrow.

two years ago FSU fans complained non-stop about the pass blocking and coach ???'s small man philosophy. now all of a sudden it's perennially the best line in the nation. ya ok.

Where did I say best? Oh, you made that up.
Our offensive line recruiting has gotten better in those last two years. Now we have depth at o-line. Just not a lot of experience now.

in the last 2 years the gators have had as good, if not arguably better OL recruiting than the noles, fwiw

if you're just going off recruiting rankings then you would have to admit UF also has depth.
UF recruiting class rankings were better on average in 2013-2014.
Who has more depth?
OL Recruiting Classes 2013-2015
FSU - 7 three stars, 6 four stars
UF - 14 three stars, 2 four stars, 1 five star
I don't think Golson is a stud or anything, but I'd love for him to pick FSU. Maguire is AWFUL, and I mean A W F U L. Golson would be a good stop-gap to keep us relatively competitive for this season, until the Deandre's and Malik Henry can duke it out next season.
