I agree. He's a great player. But he's getting towards the end of the road. Especially seeing the value that Dave is able to get in the later rounds, trading a 5th means a lot more now with us. We could get another young talent next year. I'd say pass and let our youngin' get more time and experience.

I'd give a 5th. He's good, and we still don't know who our FS will be yet. Bring him in, let him play this year while we groom his replacement. Unless of course they believe Sample or Brown can play at that level this year.

Uhh he does tackle well, but still a true FS I think we need that type of age in the secondary personally! We may not be one piece away but a lot closer than ppl may think. I'm also a sucker for UTAH guys, upset we didn't get Rowe, but fell in love with the yeldon pick soon after

I would like Weddle. Would be a great addition to a suspect secondary. We already have seen what he can do.

Exactly. A 5th round pick in the past 2 drafts have netted us Telvin Smith and Rashad Greene. Would you trade Telvin for Weddle straight up? I sure wouldn't. There's a lot of good talent we could be missing out in the next draft.

Yes he is a FREE safety not a STRONG safety. We currently have no Free Safety

Yes, but we would be 1 less if we make the trade. 

 

I'm still pissed that we didn't even consider going after local kid Brian Dawkins back in FEB 2009 when he went to the Broncos at age 35.   The dude ended up going to the Pro Bowl in 2009 & 2011.  We've been deprived of a real safety that can play and take leadership in the secondary for quite a while.  He went to the Broncos under a 5-year $17m contract.   We were too hung up on getting 26 year old unproven safeties at that time.

Probably bc until recently most of them were better than the talent we had sadly. Glad that's changed for most positions

Eric Weddle is a little different, he's still a legit starter and would be an instant upgrade to our secondary.
