Arian Foster is a good comparison.  What did Arian Foster run in the 40?  4.68/4.69.  Guys, stop worrying about the 40 time.  Blazing speed is great, but I think anyone here would take Arian Foster in his prime in a heart beat and Foster is one of the best backs in the game.

I've also seen Eddie Lacy and Le'veon Bell comparisons in addition to Foster.


Eddie Lacy ran a 4.59/4.62.

Le'veon Bell ran a 4.60.

and Yeldon actually ran faster than Lacy at his pro day, 4.52 and 4.53 seconds.

 

He's got "enough" speed.  His elusiveness and feet and elite though.  

Yeah he's so slow...? Not really. Watch him play, and remember that Blake ran a 4.9, and Marquee ran a 4.5. Don't pay that much attention to track times.

I think this was a steal. I like Abdullah but i really liked Yeldon for one reason. HE SCORES. He put up the numbers in the toughest conference in the nation and he gets touchdowns. He's not your fastest Rb, but thats why we have Denard as his backup. But this guy is a every down back that will fight after the hit and get those extra yards and score TD. 

He's bigger than I thought..


The only cutups I can find of him were against Auburn and West Virginia and he played a heck of a game in each one. Wish I could see more.


This pick is definitely growing on me.

I'm excited about the Yeldon pick. We don't have a RB like him on the roster. We haven't had one like him since MJD in his prime. Yeldon may lack the home run hitting ability, but he has every skill you want in a feature back.

He was OK in both games. His highlights are more impressive than his actual game clips, because he's a guy who takes what the defense gives. He's not an explosive runner. He builds up speed as he goes. In tight confines, he has good feet but he doesn't explode through a hole. If a crease is there and he gets past it though, then he becomes a rolling wrecking ball with some shiftiness. That's why he looks GREAT (to the point that some misguided posters have made Freddy T comparisons) on those highlights, because quite a few of the clips in those highlights, his OL has sprung him to the open field.

 

Then you see him steam rolling downfield with the ability to cut.

There are a few cases where he explodes through a hole, but I see what your saying. I didn't realize he's that type of RB to put his head down and punish a corner in the second level. Looks to always pick up extra yards.

I don't think he's really that physical. He can do it, but he doesn't do it as often as a "big back" normally would, but that's probably because he has good feet especially on the open field. But because he's big and picks up speed, you rarely see him push back especially once he picks up steam. He's typically falling forward.

Go watch video of him and look at his lateral agility which is the number 1 most important wuality in a RB and is why years ago I said trent richardson would be a bust when everyone else laughably called him the next AP. This kid is better than lacey and lacey has shown to b pretty good. Yeldon will be a workhorse every down back and a starter from day 1

 

I guess people are upset because all the mock drafts had the guy going bottom of the 3rd to anywhere in the 5th round they feel he is a reach considering how high in the 2nd round he was drafted...

I dunno i guess we will see in preseason & the start of the season as it looks like he will be the starter (unless injury or really bad showing in preseason)

Best thing about this pick is he's a zone runner. He doesn't have to have crazy straight line speed. He needs to have burst, which he has plenty of. He's patient at the LOS and knows how to hit a hole. He can catch. Honestly he should be our #1 back really soon.
