Stannis became my least favorite character last show.

Co-signed.

Stannis was always just kinda there to me until the previous episode where he showed some humanity...to follow it up with this just feels wrong.
Stannis is still the mannis is my book.

Quote:Yeah wow, the show writers must really not like Stannis at all.

I do recall reading somewhere that they saw him more as a bad guy, but damn, they've really changed Stannis' character from the books, really sucks cause he's one of my favorites.

Davos is gonna be one pissed off son of a biscuit. That should prove to be some interesting stuff to watch...

Really? I think he's the same guy as in the books, they've just made an assumption on what he'll do in the future.
I think Stannis is an interesting character. I'm rooting for him over the Boltons, at the very least.

Yeah, it definitely could happen, there is always no telling with GRRM, but I honestly don't see that transpiring in the books.

At this point, IMO, they are making Stannis seem weak, and I honestly think that he is far from that, especially from reading the preview chapter for Theon in TWOW
I dunno you sacrifice your own blood your just dead to me even in fiction lol

Stannis is pretty similar to the books.  He's inflexible, disliked by his subjects, convinced he's the one to save the realm.  While he hasn't crossed the line in the books yet that he crossed in the show, the situation is different in the show.  For one thing, in the show Stannis doesn't have Theon's sister as a captive (the one most likely to take his daughter's place on the platform).  Assuming that happens in the books.
Wth is that where the books left off!?!?
Ugh, I need to stop rooting for certain characters in this series, and just enjoy the gore, sex, and dialogue.

No, by the end of Dance with Dragons, things are left even more ambiguously.  But many characters who are dead in the show are still alive in the books so I guess we can say that the TV show is definitely beyond the books now.  Smile
I really don't understand why Jon Snow is so loved.

Worst character on the show to me.
The characters who are either too morally good or morally bad die off in this series, the ones who will be left are those who are in the middle, and have no royal birthright (Varys, Littlefinger)

I think a lot of that has to do with Jon being the one of the few clearly "good" guys left. The majority of the players are, at best, morally ambiguous. Regardless of how droll they may actually be, I think we subconsciously root for the good guy in most cases (not me, I root for Varys always...put Varys on the Iron Throne, all problems solved!).

I personally think Sansa is the worst character, but at the same time I pity her immensely. Mind you, a lot of that has to do with her storylines. She's the ultimate victim and those kind of characters irk me to no end because that mentality is diametrically opposed to who I am. A lot of my friends who've read the books (I haven't), dislike Arya for her cliche'd situation. My best friend refers to her as "standard female anime protagonist" and I kinda get why...

I believe if the series adhered more closely to the novels, it would cause casual viewers to lose interest. You could have about 3 seasons based on the initial novel alone.

Yeah I kinda get that, but man what a boring character. Agreed on Sansa too.

The other thing is, I don't think Jon Snow was quite as altruistic as his fans like to portray him. He didn't necessarily do anything bad but he pulled his fair share of self serving maneuvers as well.

I understand and agree but even so, there are some threads and characters that would have been interesting to see play out.  Lady Stoneheart is an obvious one.  Smile
I just like the white walker story line the most and that was always involving jon snow. Now that he's dead I hope I don't get more of the lanisters vs cult people. I want to see white walkers at the wall give me a whole season of that!

Don't be so quick to write him out.  Remember, the Mountain in that same episode was brought back from the dead (sort of).  Plus, Beric Dondarrion was brought back by the red priest Thoros after being killed by the Hound earlier in the series.  Melisandre's return shouldn't go unnoticed.  I mean, they aren't really going to kill him off after that epic stare down with the Night's King, right?
