Quote:Don't be so quick to write him out. Remember, the Mountain in that same episode was brought back from the dead (sort of). Plus, Beric Dondarrion was brought back by the red priest Thoros after being killed by the Hound earlier in the series. Melisandre's return shouldn't go unnoticed. I mean, they aren't really going to kill him off after that epic stare down with the Night's King, right?
That's what I thought but he said he's done they told him his character is dead and not coming back.

I saw that, but in his case, why ruin the surprise? Right now he's in limbo/presumed dead, if he said he's coming back it ruins the mystery on his fate, and avoiding the question pretty much does the same. Maybe he'll stay dead, but I wouldn't bet on it.
I wouldn't be surprised to see "Jon Snow" return and I will leave it at that.
Really didn't care for the way they portrayed the mutiny at castle black.
They left out the pink letter(One of my favorite reads of the entire series), Jon Snow's speech to the Wildlings, WunWun and his shenanigans, and a whole lot more. The whole scene just seemed rushed.
I guess if melisandre does end up reviving Jon Snow, maybe they will give those scenes another shot later in the series, hopefully.
He could technically sit out all of 2016 or they wait and reveal towards the end of next season that he'll be back in 2017. They may focus more on Bran this year and more of Dany instead. Personally I think Jon Snow comes back in the show and in the books. I think he wargs into Ghost, and keeps his spirit. Melisandre will ressurect him as Azor Ahai with Davos' help and then it's revealed who is his parents are which would prove the R + L = J theory. I think HBO went out of its way to make Jon even more important. There wasn't a battle of Hardhome with Jon involved at all. So for them to go out of their way like that to show that clash with a White Walker was meant for a reason. Same can be said for when the Night's King starred him down.
I wouldn't be surprised to see older stuff turn up now. Technically Arya's events were delayed. Her role at the House of black and white happens during the 4th book and Jon's death happened at the end of the 5th.

Correction - Jon's stabbing. He was not confirmed dead in the novel, either.

Especially since there really isn't a basis for them stabbing him like there was in the book. No matter how they feel about letting the wildlings past the wall, Jon didn't break any vows.

I didn't read the books but he slept with a wildling.

He did, but he didn't take a wife and didn't father any children, so it can be argued he didn't break any of his vows. I don't recall if it's really expressed in the show, but the vast majority of the black brothers go to Mole's Town for their women. I believe it was Aemon that remarked that if they got rid of everyone that slept with a woman there wouldn't be any brothers left.

Yeah they kinda expressed that sentiment.
I am pretty curious as to what the show is going to do with Davos.
He's going to show up to Castle Black, find out not only has Jon been stabbed/killed, but his King is presumably dead, Shireen and the Queen are dead, Melisandre is alive and well.
Honestly, what is there for him to do? Kill Melisandre? Go back to try and find/save Stannis? Possibly run into Theon and Sansa? That's about the only thing that would really make any bit of sense for his story line to me, I guess...
I like Davos as well. He's basically Dragonstone's version of Eddard Stark when you really examine his loyalty, his morales, and his character as a whole. It's hard to root against good old Davos. I think he'll stick it out at the Wall now. I think him and Melisandre will find a way to save Jon and get out of there. Rattleshirt is still a factor as well with the wildlings. He owes a lot to Jon when you think about it. It presumably cost the man his life. So I think season six will start off with something like that. Davos and Mel teaming up temporarily to save another man of high value in Jon.
Some of the casting for next year too implies that we may see some flashbacks. One description seems to fit Arthur Dayne and then another casting seems to possibly reflect a young Eddard Stark. Some people think since they've show a flashback already with Cersei and Maggi the Frog that they could do the same early on next year. Possibly showing you events at the Tower of Joy. Another casting seems to confirm a possible pirate character who may end up being Euron Greyjoy, Theon's uncle. They've been pretty mum about the Greyjoys in the show. I think they'll get some screen time next year similiar to how the Martell and Sand Snakes were introduced. A small family casted also seems to imply that Samwell's family with Randyl Tarlly, etc will be introduced as well. If Jon doesnt come back in season six he should be back in season seven. I think the show will want to beat the book's reveal of that though....

Didn't Tormund kill Rattleshirt at Hardhome in the show?
He definitely beat the hell out of him at least with that club.
That's my bad. I thought I confused Tormund for Rattleshirt. But yes, that's true. And that's another big difference from the books in regards to Mance Rayder as well.
