Can't really blame the Jags for that. We needed a QB at the time and he was high priority.. Nobody really knew how big of a turd he was going to lay in the NFL..
Gus will know which pass rusher is the best fit for his defense, and Dave will plan the draft accordingly. I like Beasley because of the quickness and athleticism, but I trust Gus to know this stuff better than me.

Yup he also was a guy who people didint know if he would be a DE or DT, he had like 5.5 sacks his SR year, all these pass rushers has a chance to be good, its up to the teams to make the right decision.
I would be happy with Williams, Fowler, Beasley, Ray or Bud Dupree, I just dont trust Gregory
Even though JJ watt wasn't a dominant pass rusher in college, he had all the tools and measurables. He just developed his skills.
That's why I worry about some players like Fowler. Wasn't a great pass rusher in college and doesn't have the measurables.

Yeah, Fowler after watching him and seeing his athleticism doesn't excite me much. Red flags all over the place.
JJ Watt and Fowler don't even compare. One is an elite athlete the other is not.
Beasley over any other pass rusher at the top of the draft for me. Productive for multiple years and the athlete to go with it.

The guy lead the SEC in QB hurries, rushed from all different positions, can rush with power and speed, 261 lbs running a 4.6, of course your not gonna compare him to JJ Watt, his measurables are similar to Orakpo and Clay Mathews

You're using the least useful drill for a DE to make your statement. Fowler was quite poor in the ones that matter most: 3 cone, broad jump, vertical jump. Orakpo was 90th percentile in every drill, and Clay was above average to very good in all of the drills too. Fowler isn't close to those two from an athletic comparison standpoint.

Whoa whoa...Gregory compares favorably to Jordan. But Fowler is more refined against the run than Jordan, and Beasley is an elite athlete.

I think everyone falls in love with these new analytics stuff, and it certainly "pops" when you see that huge number or that huge web like you see with Beasley. But just like when it comes to arm strength with QBs, sometimes...having "good enough" is "good enough" if the guy has the feel for the game and the work ethic to improve. I've mentioned this quite a few times before, but Fowler's measurables compare favorably to Chris Clemons...the guy who the LEO was created for in Seattle.

4.68 in the 40, 1.72 in 10 yard, 7.48 3-cone, 35" vert, 9'08 broad

i know, I already wrote up all of this in defense of Fowler a couple of times, too. If it is true that a lot of UDFA level athletes like Clemons was can be successful as a LEO, perhaps the position is kind of like the way the Seahawks/Gus Bradley late round mold of CB is, and we can just ignore the position until day 3 and find a quality fit. Who knows.
The crop of guys that can come in and make an immediate dominant impact is a very short list. Leonard Williams and Amari Cooper. Both of which could be considered a luxery. I think you'd have to go Williams.

People were questioning Fowler's based on his measurables. All I'm saying is, based on measurables, Fowler's is good enough. It's not eye popping like Beasley, but it's good enough.

This was something I thought about back when Gregory (who I really wasn't that high on) was the #1 mocked guy to us. Just look at how the team has managed to get production out of Branch, Davis, and even Chris Smith in his limited time last year. That said, we have no need at QB and there's not a T worth the pick.
And while we can make a case for WR, even that is not that big of a need given what we invested on it last season.
So that leaves DE...
