Quote:I agree with Telvin Smith but let's not jump on the McCray train yet.  Anyone remember Derek Cox???

Worst has to be Jockel.  To go that high and play that bad at premium position has bust written all over it.  I know he was injured for the most part but he has not shown a lot of potential.  Hope he proves me wrong this year!

Also props to DC for Aaron Colvin and Allen Hurns picks.  I think two of them and Telvin Smith will be superstars for this team.  I want to say Bortles as well but the poor guy is going to get killed playing behind this paper cutout unit that we call our O-Line.
Agreed McCray improved but they signed a free agent to start over him already, where as Telvin Smith never had a down moment he is easily (even with only half of one season) the best pick (value at 5th round)!
I didn't expect more out of Joekle. He protected a scrambling QB in college...

You could make the argument for D-Rob, McCray or Telvin Smith being the best pick. I'd lean towards McCray because Robinson has battled injuries and Smith was a rookie last year.

Worst pick? Joeckel. When the second pick in the draft is a turnstile, he's your worst pick. Jeremy Harris? He was a seventh-round pick. There's no such thing as a bust in the seventh round lol.

I find it funny that us fans would argue on who is the best but almost everyone agrees that LT Luke is the worst.

It's purely based on where he was taken.

He hasn't really played any worse the Cyprien but Cyp was taken in the 2nd.

This.

It's also kind of hard for me to pick anyone right now because Caldwell's oldest players are entering their third year. Cyprien looked good as a rookie then fell off last season, for example. Sanders showed potential as a rookie, then absolutely tanked last year.

If Ace had been drafted in the second round, no question he'd be at the top of this list, but it's hard for me to class anyone later than the second round as a true bust. That's a big part of the reason that Gratz never entered my mind. In the space of a year, he's gone from this team's top corner to no better than its fourth option. Someone mentioned Derek Cox earlier in relation to McCray, and I disagree. Gratz is the Cox comparison--from flashing great potential to looking like he should be scrubbing the toilets instead of suiting up on Sunday.

Joeckel gets my vote because of draft position and overall poor play from day one. That could still change, and there's a good chance that he takes a big step forward this year. Short of a JaMarcus Russell flameout, it's just hard to slap the bust label on guys this early in their careers.

DRob has the following Career stats (2 years):

648 Rushing Yards

124 Receiving Yards

88 Return Yards

By Comparison -- when we drafted Cyprien at the beginning of round 2 .... Le'Veon Bell (mid 2nd round) has the following:

2,221 Rushing Yards

1,253 Receiving Yards

I think people tend to overstate DRod's past performance and perhaps future value to this team.

Hindsight 20/20 -- the only move that would have been beneficial is trading down if there were any takers for that 2nd pick.  Joekel seemed like the real deal at the time.

House is not starting over McCray. McCray is not losing his starting spot. They may say they're bringing House in to compete with McCray, Colvin and Gratz, because that's what they want. I think it's Gratz who will probably get beat out and see the reduced role.
I dont hate LJ but because of him being the number 2 pick that really does hurt him, same with missing so many games. I hope things turn around for him tho.

I have high hopes for Telvin

But, but, but, you must pm me with a meaning of this, iapetus. Surely, this is not in the urban dictionary ; )

And by the way, I surely got sent to the principal's office for my earlier cross reference.  It wasn't even a view expressed by me, rather, in jest of those who state such random quips.

But tis family.  I should take up aviation lessons for the rest of my vacation.
A 4th round pick cant be considered a bust

Andrus Peat LT from Stanford, 6'7" 313lbs, Gill on the NFL Network compares him to former LT Jim Lachey (and Hall of Fame 2015 candidate).  He stated that Peat is a carbon copy of Jim Lachey and is the most likely draftee to play LT at the NFL level.

He is currently projected in the bottom half of the 1st round, but I feel he will be drafted higher.  If GM Dave Caldwell trades down he might draft LT Peat and maybe move Luke to Guard?

I agree with all of this but Hurns.

Hurns wasnt drafted.

Interesting that you mentioned Peat because he was then consensus #1 OL Pick during the college season.  It was just a matter of whether he'd come out or not.  Lately, I saw him slip down to the mid and late 1st round on some draft boards.
Quote:Best: McCray. Seriously a 7th round pick who is up there with some of the best CB's in the NFL already.

Worst: Jeremy Harris?
By that standard luke might be the worst... Top two pick that missed most of year one and was a disappointment when he finally played a season out... I completely agree with mccray....going off favorites though, the whole second round last year was pretty awesome... I dont remeber being that stoked after a round in a while.
The good news is several players have panned out and from rounds that are not in the first. Cyprien, Linder, McCray, Telvin Smith. Id say those 4 as of right now have been the best. Hopefully Bortles becomes our best draft pick....EVER. But if i had to chose one player who i think has been the "best" so far, its gotta be Linder. He's a top 10 guard already in the league in my opinion, hit the nail on the head from day 1.

Ace Sanders has been the worst....its hard to say that because he seems like such a nice guy, but the team expected more out of him in the 4th round than what they are getting and they off the field issue made it even worse. Some of you were saying Jeremy Harris, but really? He's a 7th round draft pick. Id hardly criticize a bubble guy who is having a hard time making the roster 2 years in a row the worst pick. It was a 7th rounder, there was no expectations. Id say finding McCray in the 7th and him becoming a starting caliber corner was just gold from Caldwell. Caldwell drafted Ace in the 4th to be a contributor on the team. Thats still early enough where expectations are needed. He was supposed to fix our punt return issues....it got worse, he was supposed to fight for a slot WR position, cant....Hes definitely been the worst player so far.

I like cyp but he isnt the most popular name on this board right now, its a question of whether he is a liability or if the guy playing next to him is so bad its hurting him as well... Other than that, i agree with this.

Derek Cox was always overrated by this board and could never pass the eye test. He wasnt nearly as competive or physical as McCray has been. McCray gets out there and competes, Derek Cox would get beat and then surprise you by picking pass off every now and then. McCray just plays a much different style then Cox, and I dont think its fair to compare a guy who is going out there and fighting with a guy who didnt put near the same effort into competing.
