Quote:Its not just his value. All of the safeties values are being overinflated due to a weak draft class. Which is why I think we are looking at possibly converting a CB to play FS.

Totally agree.

For a stud FS in our scheme, you want someone who has terrific instincts and can move from sideline to sideline.  For that, we'll have to open the candidate pool up in this draft.

Ok on that we agree. I don't think Caldwell will fall into a trap of drafting a questionable fs at 36 when they have a 4-5 rd grade.

This Randall love as being physical is getting out of control. He might be the least physical player I have seen in a long time.
It's just a fad. Half of those self proclaimed amateur scouts go by whatever someone else they respect says. It's parroting.
Is the Gipson trade still being talked about?

Maybe if Gurley and Jones is gone by round two, we sign Gipson and give up that 2nd rounder.

As mentioned a lot, he's 24. Essentially a red shirt seniors age.

It would have to be a draft day trade as you have to sign him to an offer sheet prior to the draft...

I dunno if I want to spend pick 36 on a FS on a 1 year deal assuming it plays out how you're describing where he signs his tender with Cleveland than gets dealt to us on draft day when we see who is available.

If we had a low second-rounder, I'd be more ok with this idea, but giving up a very high second-round pick for an above-average veteran safety is a hard move to make sense of.

If Cleveland will part with him for our third-round pick, even I would have a hard time complaining about the trade.
Quote:I've not seen that anywhere but on other boards. Have you seen any reputable analysts say that?

It's an interesting prospect, but it seems like asking a lot to me. I wouldn't expect him to be ready to learn the center-field role well enough until year two in the NFL.

Playing corner you see and make plays on one half of the field primarily. Learning to play the whole middle might take a minute for a guy that's so inexperienced.

I know I heard it from ESPN or something. Who said it I honestly don't remember at all

Damarious Randall finished his visit with the #Cowboys today. I've been told they love him and consider him the best safety in the class

In my talks with NFL teams right now, no player getting more "buzz" than safety Damarious Randall.

Crazy. What do you think of him?
One scout talking positively about a prospect doesn't mean much. People like him in a weak safety class because there's not much else to talk about. Plus, it's 3 weeks until the draft. Anyone should know that none of this means anything at all.

randall, to me, is one of the absolutely most overhyped players in this draft. ive seen him play and i am far from impressed.

byron jones would be a nice grab for a safety convert if he is there at 36....but probably wont be.

trading away pick 36 for gipson right now isnt a very good idea because you just dont know who might fall to pick 36.

now if pick 36 rolls around and the jags dont like who is left on the board, then maybe you pull the trigger on the gipson trade.
I'm against the Gipson trade 100% for what it's worth.

I don't see a reason why we can't draft a bigger CB and develop him to be a FS.

I've said this before but day 2 of the draft will be without a doubt the most interesting day for the Jags. Just so many options at so many positions. I could see us go Eli Harold, Dorial GB, cam Erving, Michael Bennett, Byron jones, Ajayi, Devin smith, Clemmings, Phillip Dorsett, Gordon if there, funchess maybe. There are a ton more but there is defintely going to be some talent at 36 that will most likely start next year.

He has Beasley as his 4th best edge rusher, Ray ahead of him, Fowler 1st of course.

To be fair, Matt Miller wasn't offering his opinion or evaluation. He was only passing along information from his "sources". Take that for whatever it's worth.
An unspecified injury has caused the draft stock of Anthony Harris - FS - Virginia to drop. He is no longer projected to be drafted in either Rd 2 or Rd 3. He certainly offers value to the Jags at Pick 103 in RD 4.

If the Jags are able to trade back, would any of you be surprised if they took one of the top CBs in the draft and immediately played him at FS?

Just a thought.

He's not much value if his injury is something serious. Any speculation on what it could be?

He was a pretty good college player but skill set wise he's more of a SS, and he's only 185.
