Nah, I said that for any team that is out of contention is it bad long term for them to win any games, including the Jags. I never pointed out any players though, not even last year when I was "tank for Teddy". If the apple of Dave's eye was Williams, and he missed out on him because we won a meaningless TNF game against the Titans, then that would have been really bad. Even if I was tank for Williams, however, signing a player that has the same skill set to an 8.5M AAV and 22.5M guaranteed changes the formula just a tad haha.

Yes, I have NFL Game Rewind. It comes with archives of every game, with all-22 and "coaches film" angles included, though I'm pretty sure it's not an actual angle that gets sent to the teams. 

 

I seriously don't get why some of you all question the work I put in after like the 4th year of doing this on here. I have said many times when I haven't watched enough on someone or something and don't want to give a definitive opinion, such as with Danielle Hunter just yesterday when someone was asking me about him.

Unfortunately we won our completely meaningless TNF game against the Titans, so instead of us getting what looks like hands down the best player in the draft (non QB at least) our division rivals are probably going to get him. 

 

That haunted us three years ago when our meaningless win late in the season vs the Colts has us facing Luck for the next decade, and it's likely going to do it again. -KYJaggy

Where did you get the cutups of Odrick at Penn State?  I'm honestly just curious, because I haven't been able to find much.

 

I think it's unfair to compare a junior in college at age 19 or 20 to a 4 year NFL veteran and say they're clones.

 

If Leonard Williams at age 19/20 is playing as well as Odrick was at 26, then I'd say that Williams kid is very special... projecting him to get better.

Odrick and Williams are not the same guy.

Never heard anyone say Odrick was the best prospect in the draft, or an elite prospect.

I voted Fowler Jr. I like Williams as well, but we have to get pressure on the QB. We have Alualu, Odrick, Marks, Miller, Ziggy, Abry to man what Williams would be manning.

We need a game changer on the outside to help Branch and Clemons, and Clemons only has a couple more productive years left so Fowler Jr would be an upgrade to Clemons moving forward.

I agree with this sentiment. Missing out on Luck was tragic. Missing out on trading the 2nd pick (Mariota) for a slew of extra draft picks could be just as bad.

First of all, much like Shane Ray those opinions were before I did actual evaluative work on him and was merely from watching games live as a fan and from the drooling mass media. Nearly as quickly as with Ray, however, it was apparent that Williams was not nearly the pass rusher he was billed to be. Fortunately for Williams, he has many other skills that can supplement the lack of pass rush excellence. He is still on the list of ok picks at 3 for me (which sadly I think is down to merely 5 players), albeit now towards the end of that instead. 

 

Also, like 10 posts below that I stated basically exactly what was quoted above. The theory has nothing to do with the actual player, and especially not my opinion of the player, it's all about the more options being available for Dave to pick when he goes on the clock the better.

Williams, they are.

"they are", but a whole lot of them aren't too. It's probably 50/50 at this point. Dave could (and I suspect he does) fall into the large second group. 

 

I saw a couple very smart people phrase it like this with Williams, he is good and safe and almost guaranteed won't bust. However, when they go back and do those draft re-do columns, it's very unlikely that he will still be seen as one of the best possible picks in the draft. I think that's a really good way to put it.

Outstanding.

The Odrick signing will not stop us from drafting Williams.  There may be other factors, but i promise that is not one of them. 

 

That's the kind of thinking that will ruin a team.  Much like Jag drafting of the last decade.  Caldwell knows better.
