Outstanding.
Nice hyperbole. It's no wonder everyone else makes fun of me for trying to talk common sense on these boards. Maybe I should just give up like they all have I suppose, it's impossible to have an intelligent adult dialogue.
Quote:The Odrick signing will not stop us from drafting Williams. There may be other factors, but i promise that is not one of them.
That's the kind of thinking that will ruin a team. Much like Jag drafting of the last decade. Caldwell knows better.
Not alone, no. But signing an extremely similar player to a very large FA contract could be a sign that he doesn't believe Williams is the be all end all in this draft. It also might not mean that, we will see.
Williams and if he's gone take Shelton; the rest of this draft on difference makers is suspect. Sure some will emerge outta nowhere to produce but I don't see none as of now. If you're picking top 3 in the draft you take best player over need for this dumb [BLEEP] LEO spot.
I liked Gregory until his drug test, with Blackmon situation I can't imagine we'd take Gregory at 3. Voted Fowler, jack of all trades, can move him all over and hopefully he'll turn into a Von Miller type.

Please refrain from using the word hyperbole if you don't know what it means. I get it, it looks fancy, but where did I intentionally exaggerate anything?
" First of all, much like Shane Ray those opinions were before I did actual evaluative work on him and was merely from watching games live as a fan and from the drooling mass media."
You are literally saying that you posted opinions about Shane Ray and Leonard Williams before you did " actual evaluative work " and by going off of what the media said. Simply put, you posted about players without knowing what you were talking about. Shane Ray's and Leonard Williams' game tape did not change in the time it took for you to do your " actual evaluative work".
" It's no wonder everyone else makes fun of me for trying to talk common sense on these boards."
This last statement reminds me of a quote from one of my favorite movies,
Lucky Number Slevin;
The Rabbi : My father used to say: "The first time someone calls you a horse you punch him on the nose, the second time someone calls you a horse you call him a jerk but the third time someone calls you a horse, well then perhaps it's time to go shopping for a saddle."
Again. Outstanding.
I think its gonna be Fowler or Beasley. Beasley is the best edge rusher but Fowler is the best pass rusher. I would be ok with either but with Fowler, you could move him all over and created more miss matches. Fowler the more complete player will be hard to pass up if the Titans dont take him. If we dont trade back the only other players I would be ok with at 3 are White, Cooper and Williams. Either way I think we get a good player
Any one of:
Williams, Beasley, Fowler, Cooper
Would be fine with me.

I actually think it's going to be Fowler or Beasley too unless Williams is available.
I'm really liking Beasley the more I watch. It's gonna be an exciting draft if no trade happens for the Titans before draft night. So pumped.

yeah, I would want Cooper over White too
Quote:Beasley 1a, Gregory 1b. Fowler is a distant 3rd option. I think Odrick shows Dave's hand as being one of the many who think Leo Williams is good, not fantastic. As was said, correctly, basically Odrick's twin. If he takes him, fine he's a good player, but he is absolutely not this elite, in his own tier type player like most people have been spoonfed.
Also, Gregory weighed in at 243 today, improving his bench, and keeping his agility scores as good or slightly better to (which happens at all pro days so I'm not really counting that). The weight and strength concerns were only issues for the weak minded. He'll be a beast as long as he stays healthy, which is a fairly legit concern and why he is slightly behind Beasley to me.
Gregory weighed 243 huh? He must of had the munchies and been eating a lot lately.
Voted for Williams
Would rather draft BPA

One thing we definitely agree on is this draft should definitely be exciting.
I watched a Leonard Williams highlight and looked briefly at the combine circle thingies. After this exhausting evaluation process I voted for Vic Beasley
I think Leonard Williams is the best player in the draft, and a tad better pick than Fowler, but Id be fine with etheir one.
If we can't trade down I'm thinking we just take Leonard as the BPA. If he's not there, then I'm still tossed between Fowler, Ray and Beasley. I like them all.

Actually, there is a very large chasm between a finished evaluation and not knowing what someone is talking about. Your pretending that there is only one or the other is what was hyperbolic about it. I watched dozens of players as a fan during the season with their pro potential casually in mind, and I can say that off the top of my head my opinion was only changed greatly on 2.5 of them. Ray and Holliman went from very good players to plain bad players over the course of the evaluation.
Leonard Williams went from the probable tier of his own non QB merely to tier 2, because his pass rush skills are not what they appeared to be. 3rd down passing situations were the biggest weakness in his game. On top of that, add the fact that we added a very expensive player in FA who also has a very redundant skill set to Williams, and I think Beasley is now the tier by himself player (only because of Gregory's off field) for the Jags in this draft. Hopefully Dave agrees.
Regardless, you are clearly not wanting to engage in any type of constructive talk about NFL draft prospects so I am done bantering with you.
It would be a mistake to pass on Leonard Williams if we absolutely had to pick at #3.

Is there something wrong with posting opinions about a player without actually "evaluating" them? I mean....this is after all a fans forum board. KY has an opinion..right or wrong doesn't matter its his opinion. He doesn't have to "evaluate" anyone to post here. Who cares if he doesn't know what he's talking about...no one does. I remember hearing Mike Mayock say that Trent Richardson was the safest pick in the draft a few years back...now look at him. The point is everything about the draft is just one big guess...sure..it may be an educated guess..but a guess none the less.

youre missing the point here, but thats ok.
