Quote:Your surprised I'm against an organization that has the legal authority to evict you for the height of your grass?

I left a small suburban community for the sticks because of crap like that.

They can not only evict you, but also sell your house.  For all sorts of fees.   My cousin was recently fined for having her trash can be too 'visible' from the street.  They're also not allowed to leave their garage door open for more than one hour at a time (to which I ask how the heck do they know it's open for that long?)

But it's also a private group, so i figured you'd probably not want to be part of one, but wouldn't be against them.  That's the part I'm surprised about, because local groups would know best about the needs of the community.

There's no absolute truth or solutions. I think Home Owner Associations represent a huge problem with over regulating society, only it's on a local level. And you can see just how damn hard it is to fight and win against them on this small level, imagine a Home Owner Association on the federal level and how impossible that would be to fight.

That's why I try and localized the power, to give us a fighting chance, not a ringing endorsement of the system.

Private entities do everything better though! :teehee:
