Quote:Sadly, you don't realize it hurts your cause more than it helps your cause. It's like the annoying homer that thinks every player on his team favorite team is the best in the league. When you can't view things objectively or ever critique the libertarian party, you really just make a joke out of it.
Objectively according to whom? If he believes or feels a certain way and you don't, that doesn't make your beliefs or feelings any more objective than his, it just makes them different.

Quote:The rest of us. Unsurprisingly, you are oblivious to this.

And being so condescending to him doesn't make you seem very objective either...

I haven't even gotten my hands dirty in this debate (or any lately), but nice try. If you really think that Eric looks at things objectively, then I don't know what to tell you. He has even admitted to viewing things from a very radical and subjective viewpoint to stay consistent with libertarianism. If he can admit that, then you probably shouldn't take offense to me calling out his lack of objectivity.

Nice try at doing what exactly? And I don't know where you pulled "offended" out of anything I said....

Whether he admits he's radical in his views or not isn't the point. Eric is a libertarian, that's what he believes in...do you know anyone that is really objective once you get to the belief level? Asking him to look at things your way doesn't make your way any more objective. (And I mean "your way" in general, not you specifically.)
Guys it's ok HYV is one of the guys that has a personal axe to grind with libertarians or possibly me who knows who cares. I don't want to sidetrack this thread and make it about anything else.

I know plenty of people that don't think their political party is correct about each and every view it has.

I think that republicans and democrats that lean radically right or left are foolish, too. Not just you.

And you probably know just as many that don't think that way.

Now hold on, I've never claimed to hold every view as strict libertarian. I'm not even sure I know all the libertarian points, it's a big party with a diverse base.

Everyone claims to be a moderate, I meet very few people that don't try and claim the moderate name. Which means usually they just kind of go with the flow or the most popular opinion at the time, I have a deeper respect for people that hold views even when contrary to popular trends or views, that includes the radical left and right.

What's your point? That doesn't mean radicals on either side aren't foolish.

I have more respect for people who view issues on a case by case basis and form an opinion accordingly, rather than going with the radical status quo of their respective party. I also have more respect for people who can concede, at least sometimes, that they are wrong and/or may not be as knowledgeable on certain topics as others.
