Williams is definitely not an elite pass rusher. His 3rd and long impact is actually the worst aspect of his game. He is a good all around, jack of all trades DL...a virtual Odrick clone. Which is funny cause look who his #2 closest physical match is on his spider chart. I think that if we didn't get Odrick he would have been a very good pick at 3, but now I would rather go Beasley or Gregory.

So you're telling me you'd draft an Odrick clone 3rd overall?
(If Odrick wasn't on the roster)

well there you have it. the spider charts say all. glad you got your hands on these because your old "evaluations" werent bad enough.

Sick of everyone's solution to all draft problems being "trade back".... Williams may be a guy that doesn't come around often. There's no other guy in this year's draft with his size, length, strength, agility, and production.
Trading back and getting a bunch of players that can be drafted in every single draft isn't wise IMO.
When you have a chance at picking the best non-QB in this year's draft, you have to take that chance. Unless of course someone gives them multiple 1st rounders etc.
If Dave feels Williams is a player that doesn't come around often I think he will take him, but not sure if thats the case
Those spider charts say the closest guy to Vic Beasley is some guy named Ty Powell (looks like a backup from the Bills) and some guy named Trevardo Williams.
They don't mean anything.

WHAT?! you wouldnt want the next trevardo williams on your team? pfffft stick to your jared odrick clone.....
I thought this was a fair right up on Williams

Leonard Williams (DE, USC)
I’m not sure how Williams has earned such a brilliant reputation. Don’t get me wrong, he’s certainly intriguing. He’s 6-5 and 300lbs and moves well for the size. I’ll happily eat my words if he explodes at the combine and shows himself to be a big-time athlete with huge upside potential. On tape, however, it’s still a real mystery what his best position is. When he lines up inside he can be a liability against the run. Against Fresno State he was pushed around on two red zone TD runs. He’s not a great interior rusher either. As a defensive end he’s certainly got that J.J. Watt act of swatting the ball down to a tee. And yet he’s not a great speed-to-power rusher. He doesn’t live in the backfield. He’s busy rather than relentless. He looks like he might be a 5-technique in the 3-4. Based on his athletic qualities, I’m positive someone will take him in round one. Yet I’m not totally convinced the tape warrants such lofty reviews (eg being touted as a potential #1 overall pick).
you found a quote from some mystery man that agrees with you. Awesome.
Want some quotes from other people saying he's got all-pro potential?

Yeah, I wouldn't be against it if it was a big need. Odrick is a very good player.

I never said he don't have potential. If we draft on potential I think Gregory will be the pick. If Dave feels that Gregory can add weight and live up to his potential I think Dave probably takes Gregory. That weight though

is there an addendum where he eats said words?

Yep, I clearly made the comp 100% on looking at the spider chart an hour ago and nothing else. I haven't been saying they are comps for each other since the minute we signed Odrick or anything...
Such a fool. An extremely lazy and hyperbolic one at that.

Look at who Luck is most similar to.
Put me in the select Leonard Williams column at Pick 3.
Quote:I don't exactly see them taking another player at #3 allowing Leonard to fall further. Simply put, you don't reach for a lesser player unless he's a QB. That said, an ideal situation would be a trade down where the Jaguars can truly match value and need with their pick. I can see someone saying, "Who doesn't need the best player in the draft?" but on a team with so many holes it's rather imperative to fill one of those holes.
according to our GM, we don't really have "holes" anymore.
We can line up with legitimate starters at every position.
The expectation is that guys like Bortles, Joeckel, Bowanko, Robinson, Lee, Hurns, Smith, Linder, Colvin, etc continue to make progress and become legit starters.
I would say our only position where we don't have a good solution is FS and RB at this time.
This team has OK starters in just about all positions. However, they lack truly impact players. If you're the opposing defensive or offensive coordinators, which players on the Jag's roster today are real mismatches or make you worry. The answer in my mind today is Julius Thomas, and that is all. I hope this team does not trade out of pick 3, to miss on an impact player, for the right to pick up a couple more OK starters.
I am find with Dave and his staff, who have far greater resources to judge these prospects, to deliver the impact player at pick 3. That player may be Williams, Fowler, White, Gregory, Cooper, or whoever....
The years of missed first round draft picks have really hurt this roster from having mature playmakers aboard and contributing today.

if williams is on the board and the jags trade down id prob be annoyed.
if he is off the board and the jags trade down, i would think it was probably the best thing for the team.
