While everyone talks about trades for Marcus Mariota, it seems nobody is talking about trades for elite pass rushers. What if a team wants Lenoard Williams, who is considered the best overall draft prospect? The Jaguars could decide it is not too risky to trade down because Vic Beasley and Dante Fowler will be available later if that team also has a top 10 pick. Would you accept the trade?

If Williams is on the board when the Jags pick, he should be the selection, IMO.

Agree.  I wouldn't trade down in what's a pretty weak draft and pass on what is likely the best player in the draft at a position of need, and just get someone else.  Just my two cents.

Agree with this. That's why I love sitting at three. If Tennessee takes Mariota, Williams is there. If Tennessee takes Williams, we should have the opportunity to add at least one pick by sliding back some.

If Tennessee picks Leonard Williams, somebody might want to trade up for one of the other elite pass rushers when we are on the clock. Then what do you do?
Will any teams be interested to trade up for Williams rare talent?

The Texans took so long to pick Jadeveon Clowney last year it was obvious somebody called them about trading up (probably the Falcons) because everyone knew he was the guy they wanted. So yes, it can happen.

The Falcons still need defensive linemen. Now that their coach is Gus Bradley's successor in Seattle, it is safe to assume if Leonard Williams is good for our defense, he would be good for theirs too.
I'd be excited for Williams, but be as excited to trade down too whether it be for Mariota, Williams or Cooper. jags are in a good position to and could score some more quality prospects.
Depends on what they are offering. If Williams is gone just pick Fowler.

I don't see that happening. If someone trades up it'll be for a Mariota, Williams or maybe a WR.

I have been back and forth on this one it seems a thousand times. At first I thought the Titans were merely playing games with their adamant stand on going with Mettenberger and drafting Leonard Williams. Then I began to believe their stance believing Leonard Williams would be their pick. Yet now I get the feeling that there is an 75% chance that Mariota is taken with Pick 2, either with the Titans taking the Oregon QB or the Titans accepting a trade offer. In either case, I am feeling more and more convinced that Leonard Williams drops to the Jags at Pick 3 and the Jags take him as the BAP.

So what does that do for the Jags Dline? Well, initially, Leonard Williams can man the 3-Tech for SenDerrick Marks, with Clemons manning the Leo, Odrick the 5-Tech and Roy Miller manning the Nose Tackle. I can envision a lineup with Odrick, Miller, Marks and Williams as the 4 Horseman of the Apocalypse.

As much, as I would be happy with Dante Fowler at Pick 3, I think if Leonard Williams is there at Pick 3 the team will most likely take him over Fowler.

Williams would definitely be the pick there IMO. He's got the size, length, strength, production, everything you want in a prospect. He's only 20 as well IIRC... He may not be an instant star, but you can project him to be a dominant player in 2-3 years.

He has fewer question marks than anyone else in the draft IMO.
Well, there are some concerns...

Greg Cosell said he watched four games and had the following evaluation...

<p style="margin-left:40px;">I think he's a nice player, but I don't think he's special at this point; he's not a true quick twitch guy ... He has a tendency to play high. There are too many times he gave the offensive linemen his chest which negates almost everything. I don't think he's a natural pass rusher at this point. I didn't think he played really well in space. I think you saw a flash player who made the occasional impressive play ... As far as what he is right now, he's not a three technique. When you think of that you think of a Gerald McCoy coming out of Oklahoma; you think of Sheldon Richardson coming out of Missouri; he's not that guy right now.

Cosell is full of it on this one, Williams to me is better then both of them coming out, but everybody has different evaluations

Of course someone who watched only four games will not have the same opinion as the guys who watched all of them.
I saw an interesting article at NFL.com which speculated on a trade up scenario involving the Saints whereby the target is Amari Cooper. Since Cooper very well be the No. 1 target for the Raiders at Pick 4, the Jags might be a logical trade-up partner.

Imagine the Saints offering Picks 13 and 31 (and something else ... who knows what) for the chance to move up to Pick 3.

I am not sure that the Saints have not already approached the Jags about just such a possibility and if so, it would go along way into explaining why the Jags have been looking at Trae Waynes - CB - Michigan State and/or Shane Ray - DE - Missouri. Both could be available at Pick 13, as might Victor Beasley - OLB - Clemson.

Pick 31 might secure Melvin Gordon or maybe even Todd Gurley. Also don't forget Erik Kendricks at Pick 31 or even Eli Harold - OLB/DE - Virginia.

Assuming a trade with the Saints whereby the Jags receive Picks 13, 31 and 78 for Pick 3, then my mock draft might look like this...

Rd 1(13): Todd Gurley - RB - Georgia

Rd 1(31): Eli Harold - DE - Leo - Virginia

Rd 2(36): Eric Kendricks - ILB - UCLA

Rd 3(67): Tyler Lockett - WR - Kansas State

Rd 3(78): Clive Walford - TE - Miami

Rd 4(103): Cody Prewitt - FS - Mississippi

Rd 5(138): Xavier Williams - DT - Northern Iowa

Rd 6(175): Jarvis Harrison - OG - Texas A&M

Rd 7(211): Kyle Emanuel - Otto LB - North Dakota State

Now this might mean giving up on taking Leonard Williams at Pick 3 for Todd Gurley, Eli Harold and Clive Walford.

Don't forget Kevin White. He had a better combine last month than Amari Cooper, which makes me wonder if Cooper was overrated because he went to Alabama. (An anonymous scout said that about teammate T.J. Yeldon.) So teams hoping an elite wide receiver is available don't have to jump over the Raiders. They can trade with the Redskins to jump over the Jets (who recently cut Percy Harvin). If I am the Saints, I will keep my extra pick from the Seahawks and offer my second round pick instead.

since White had a better combine than Cooper, it makes you wonder if Cooper was overrated because he went to Alabama? I have a headache

Or maybe Alabama was overrated because Cooper went there...
