Quote:Who are they for you? In what order?
1. Sen'derrick Marks
2. Julius Thomas
3. Blake Bortles
4. Telvin Smith
5. Allen Robinson
6. Brandon Linder
7. Paul Posluzsny
8. Demetrius McCray
9. Josh Scobee
10. Marqise Lee
If you put them in order are you putting them in order of premium position or in how great they are to their role verus other players in the NFL at the same role, if so I would put Scobee higher for example.
#1.) Julius Thomas TE (Unless its proven that he was simply a product of the Broncos/ Peyton Manning he deserves to be at the top).
#2.) Sen'derrick Marks DT (Shouldve made the ProBowl this year)
#3.) Josh Scobee K (If he had played on a better team the last few years the world would praise him more)
#4.) Chris Clemons DE (Since 2010 he's averaged over 9 sacks per season, avg 3.6 PDEF, 2.4 avg fumbles with 3 recoveries since playing the LEO role despite injuries and old age)
#5.) Telvin Smith OLB (I know he's a rookie, but if he had started week 1 at weak side I feel he wouldve made the ProBowl)
#6.) Brandon Linder G (The Offensive Line stunk but many felt Linder had a ProBowl type rookie year)
#7.) Poz MIKE (I know people wanted to hate on him but if the Jaguars had cut him prior to his injury almost every team wouldve been interested in him).
#8.) Jared Odrick DL (He should play better on the outside then inside sharing reps with Tyson Alualu he'll be able to pass rush more)
#9.) Allen Hurns WR (I feel he is better than Robinson despite not being drafted)
#10.) Jonathan Cyprien SS (His 2nd year wasnt as good as his 1st partly due to the head injury in week 1 but I feel he'll shine this year)!
In order
Justin Blackmon
Brandon Linder
Sen Derrick Marks
Paul Poslunsky
Julius Thomas
Jonathan Cyphrien
Tyson Alualu
Allen Hurns
Telvin Smith
Blake Bortles
I notice nobody is putting cyprien on their list. So much hype but the reality is he isn't a cornerstone type player.
Quote:Rivers would be though right?
A guy who has thrown for over 35000 yards in the nfl, 5 probowls, and routinely throws for over 4k a year vs a guy who has yet to start 16 games in the nfl....
Telvin Smith
Marks
Poz
Julius Thomas
Linder
Allen Robinson
Odrick
Justin Blackmon
Denard Robinson
Blake Bortles
Cyprien
Marqise Lee
Davon House or McCray or Colvin (not sure who is better)
Chris Clemons
Jermey Parnell
Andre Branch
Marcedes Lewis
Luke Joeckel
Alualu
Looking at everyone's list (and comparing with mine), it shows just how far this team still has to go. There's a lot of young guys with promise in our top 10, but that's all they are right now....young guys with promise. Our best player is definitely Marks, but even he has question marks with the ACL. IMO, our top 10 as of right now:
Marks
Poz
Julius
Pernell
McCray
Linder
Telvin
Odrick
That's 8, and I'm struggling to name the next two without "projecting" them too much (who I think they WILL be, as opposed to who they actually are)
MARKS
THOMAS
POZ
CLEMONS
ODRICK
LINDER
PARNELL
MCCRAY
SCOBEE
BLAKE

I put him at #10 on my list but I was leaning towards Aaron Colvin as my gut feeling is he's going to really shine this year if given the opportunity (preseason)...
Cyprien is a BIG HITTER and his presence or lack thereof is felt by the opponets.
Marks is our best player. After that, it's really just potential. Mine would be:
Marks, Telvin, McCray, Linder, Allen Robinson, Allen Hurns, Blake Bortles, Denard, Bowanko, and Poz.
I think Colvin has tons of potential, as does Marqise Lee. Neither played much this past season, but they both performed well in their limited action. Julius Thomas was obviously great in Denver, but I do want to see how productive he is with Bortles and how Olson uses him. We have a good rotation of pass rushers, but no great ones. I like Odricks potential, and think he can easily become a top ten player on our roster. When your top ten players were mostly rookies, it means your roster has a long way to go in development. Looking forward to seeing what Caldwell does with another draft. Hopefully we can snag two or three more starters, and hopefully, top ten players
Last year:
Marks
Telvin
Linder
McCray
Clemons
Allen robinson
Denard
Poz
Lee
Bortles/branch/colvin- on the bubble
Hopefully next year will look like
Bortles
Julius
Fowler
Telvin
Marks
Allen Robinson
Lee
McCray
Odrick
Linder/ half the team on the bubble.
Julius
Marks
Telvin
Bortles
Allen Robinson
Poz
Colvin
Lee
Clemons
Scobee

I COULDN'T READ, CAN YOU PLEASE TYPE LOUDER?
These top 10 lists really drive home why this team isn't good right now. I consider myself an optimistic Jags fan, but the roster is really lacking top end talent. We can talk all day about depth and addressing a need, but talent is what this team needs. BPA all the way. The really good news is that our top 10 players list is full of young players who will hopefully continue to ascend.
1. Julius Thomas
2. SenDerrick Marks
3. Allen Robinson
4. Demetrius McCray
5. Paul Poz
6. Telvin Smith
7. Brandon Linder
8. Jonathan Cyprien
9. Allen Hurns
10. Chris Clemons

I had nine bubble guys for my top ten list but then realized it would be a top nineteen list.
rough order:
Marks
J Thomas
Linder
Poz (if he returns to form)
A Robinson
Telvin Smith
Clemons
Odrick
Colvin (speculative - but I feel he'll prove worthy even if he stays at nickel)
Bortles (based purely on my anticipation of his development - could put McCray here as well)

Some Jags fans have enough ANGER as it is already.
Quote:Thanks for putting Clemons on the list. I was just going to comment that he needs to be there.
I would not include Lewis in the top ten only because he is not a complete tight end. He is all pro blocker but he is lacking in the passing game. I personally believe it was his desire to train like a cage fighter that caused his lack of receptions. Every sport has specific training routines to improve the players ability to become successful at his or her position. I could never associate training like a cage fighter to improve your play at tight end. That's my take on why such successful college career as a blocking and PASS CATCHING tight end has diminished his pass catching ability to a less then adequate after a promising college career.

Punters are people too -- but they don't make top ten lists.
