Quote: half of the top 10 recievers in the nfl last year were under 6 feet. this argument is overplayed. yes julio is a freak but you dont have to be a freak to be a league leading receiver.

Nobody wishes they were shorter and slower
I think the Jaguars should take Amari Cooper at 3. However I believe they will take Fowler.

Your point being? My point is size has nothing to do with being a top receiver in the NFL

it has value.  all else equal, speed and height are good.  it's not irrelevant like you are proposing.

If a guy like OBJ were taller while maintaining the same athletic abilities, he would be an even better player.  That's doesn't mean guys under 6'3" cant be really good.

So your argument is that even though size is not required for success, it would still help to be taller or faster.

Nobody's saying tall guys dont succeed. But nobody should say short guys dont either. Its just goes to show that there's far more variables that determine WR success.

the point is that you can't measure many variables until they actually play in the NFL.  height, speed, quickness, and things like that are easier to see.  So if you look at two prospects before the draft and they appear to be equal in most categories (instincts, route running, football IQ, ect.), you take the taller and faster guy.

Sure. I'd agree with the logic....if both players were in the same draft. But in this case, comparing Julio/AJ Green/Dez to the current crop of receivers doesn't work. If Cooper or White are BAP at our pick, then they are the best pick to make- regardless of their height vs Julio and even if they aren't as great of a prospect.

By that line of reasoning, every receiver taken before pick 16 is a reach because Jerry Rice was the best to ever do it, and you should only take a receiver before 16 if he can be better than Jerry Rice.
I definitely don't see the Jags taking a WR at 3. A WR at 36 is more plausible which will give us better value.

Sleeper pick at 36, Dorial Green-Beckham. Jags don't have a receiver like him on the roster and will help Bortles in the redzone with Julius. I can see him becoming the best WR from the class IF he stays out of trouble. DGB and Robinson on the outside and Lee in the slot would be dominant.
If we pick a receiver at three, do we go for a pass rusher in round two ?

And if we do, is anyone worth having ?

There could be several sleepers in this draft later, and several busts at the top.

One guy to keep an eye on... Max Valles.  Not in round two, but... Raw guy who could probably end up something if brought along.  Long defender, LEO mold, needs time/patience, breaks up a decent amount of passes as a rusher.
I was big on going Fowler with the 3rd but now see how FA has played out I think I'm getting on the White at 3 train. I know we drafted 2 last year and have Hurns as well but none of them are legit 1's. Add white to the mix and you have a dominant WR corps.

Thinking about White as the X, Robinson as the Y, Lee and Hurns as the Z with Julius at TE. No more 9 in the box. Points and deep plays galore. Getting Blake help should be number 1 priority.

I'm secretly hoping for this scenario. DBG is a true #1 WR with his size/speed. DBG/J. Thomas/Robinson/Lee/Hurns is a nice set of weapons.

As long as DGB can avoid throwing any more women down a flight of stairs.
