Not sure how I feel about Parnell (holy crap, it actually is spelled Jermey) over Bulaga, but I like the versatility.
Here's a crazy idea: both Parnell and Bulaga have experience at left tackle. Parnell played the position some in Dallas, and Bulaga was a left tackle in college. I believe Bulaga has actually worked there some in the pros. What are the odds that the team signs both guys, one for the right side and one for the left, and kicks Joeckel inside to guard? I'm almost certainly dreaming, but the "what if" game is fun this time of year.

In that scenario I'm not sure Luke is strong enough for inside duties. He's still gaining strength to deal with guys around 275-280. I doubt he could handle the 320 Sheldon's and Atkins' of the world.
If it goes through, I like the signing.

That's partly why I think I'm dreaming. Joeckel would end up as more of a swing tackle than anything else, and I doubt the team is ready to essentially give up on him by putting him in that role.
Don't know who this is and I'm pretty sure the right tackle spot didn't give up 70 sacks alone. Still skeptical of everyone one this soft [BLEEP] line.
Starting early this season.....

UDFA bounced around couple of teams and could not beat out Free. Now he is paid more than Free. is Dave irritated and decided to throw the checkbook at a slow footed tackle who has started 6 games? Oh well, it's not my money, and he is probably as good as what we have now. He doesn't seem like a Big nasty, more big softie. It looks like an expensive reach.
He has to be better than what we had.
Holy cow....just saw Franklin's deal from San Diego: 36 million/about 7 a year!
Parnell is an immediate upgrade at either OT position. Nothing not to like about this.
Ideally - Joeckel shows up strong and ready to earn his spot and Parnell plays with Linder on the right side.
Having a hard time finding anything bad about this signing. The money doesn't matter. We're cap-rich.

Well he was a defensive end when he started in the NFL, so it took him some time to convert over to offensive line.

Where the hell do you figure Parnell is a big softie? LOL.
All that's been stated about him is how great of an athlete he is, played college b-ball, and how much toughness he brings. Go look at the vine of him picking up a DT off his feet and running him back. The guys definitely not soft...lol.
According to some....it was some UNKNOWN lineman. Apparently they weigh less than a KNOWN lineman

is that too much? that's about the same as what we gave Parnell...

Whatever...
I honestly wish you could filter what you could see on here, some of the stuff is just crazy. I mean watch the tape on this guy, read up even a little bit besides posters like Badger and co., and it's easy to get at least somewhat of an idea what this guy brings. Hopefully he can continue what he did in Dallas. If he does here what he did in that stint for Free, than our line became a ton better.
About a million more than Parnell agreed to.

as a % of our cap that's like 2% more....
Just saying if you're going to get all wide-eyed about what other teams are doing, you should look at your own. we did basically the same thing.
I like what i've read about him, and what i've seen. Didn't give up a sack in almost 400 snaps last year. From what i've seen in reports, he isn't nearly as good at run blocking as pass blocking, but he did fairly in both.

All I was doing was offering a comparison to people who were saying we broke the bank on a back up lineman, when San Diego gave up more for a guy who couldn't even hold down his starting position.
