Until Todman had that long TD, a lot here wanted him gone anyway. I would not mind keeping him, but not really sad to see him go.
Quote:I assume it was just to clarify, but the last sentence by Rapoport is interesting.

And likely has nothing behind it but speculation
The most common RFA tender is just over $1.5m.  It would not surprise me to see them re-sign Todman and, possibly, Ta'ofu'ou during free agency for less money.  Each player has potential value or adds camp competition, but not at $1.5m for the year.

This is what I hope happens as well

"Multiple sources"
Quote:And where did that post say he was 'the best on the team'? I saw a question.

So 1 poster asking a question = 'all of the knee-jerkers'
Cause that's exactly what i said...

I don't care enough to go look, honestly.  It happened.  I liked him a little and wouldn't have minded him sticking around, but DROB is head and shoulders better.

I remember that well.

A few stook up for him and his kickoff return ability but that was it.  Then all of a sudden he busts loose on a run or two...

RE: what?
Mark my words. If Todman signs elsewhere he will be a beast for whatever team snags him. A legit 4.4 guy with strength to break tackles and was one of the top leaders in the league on kick off return yardage. No running back or QB could have had success behind that o-line last season. He's only 25 still too.

Marked.

What's the threshold for "beast"?  1000 yds?
Clear that KR spot for Tyler Lockett! Dynamic receiver and KR

We can do a lot better than Todman. That being said, best wishes.

I was joking.

So many of the things reporters quote from multiple sources end up nothing more than speculation.

Bingo! Todman and Sanders are very average. Lockett is a super player.
Glad we resigned Davis. rest meh. Im not a big fan of Todman but if we keep him thats fine.

This begs the question, what kind of investment are we going to make to replace him?

We've officially created an opening at RB. Do we maintain the status quo by re signing Todman or bringing in another cheap young player, or do we use the opening as an opportunity to really upgrade?

There are quite a few interesting prospects in free agency and the draft.

With all our cap space, it wouldn't surprise me at all if they made a significant investment into the rotation.

Ryan Davis is that dude. Glad he's back.
Davis is the best of that group, good signing.

I think this is a sign of respect for Will and Jordan.  They could have tendered them and drug them out until the end of camp if they wanted to, but they decided they were targeting other players and that they would give those 2 players a chance to hit UFA and sign with a team where they have a chance of making the roster.

I am not sure that by letting Todman walk that a RB spot has necessarily opened up.  Most teams carry 3 RBs (not counting FBs) on the 53 man roster.  The Jags still have Robinson, Gerhart, and Johnson.  Carrying 4 on the 53 roster last year was a RB luxury, not the norm.  Todman's absence would leave the kickoff return job open for someone to go after.

I do think the Jags will acquire a RB in FA or the draft to try to upgrade the position, not specifically to replace Todman.
