Quote:Dude is a beast. As is Poz. They'll still be impactful players. To the "butts in the seats" crowd that only goes so far. When the team is 1-8 again it will continue rearing its ugly head.

Suh is an impact player. If we pick him up, I'll find the first bookie I can to bet we'll be better than 1-8 at that point in the season.

I like Poz, I say keep him as the starting middle LB.

Just imagine

Hardy, Suh, Marks, Bryant

Smith, Poz, Fowler

That front 7 gives us the best def we've seen in the last 7 or 8 years easy.
Quote:I think if we get someone like McCourty at FS and get  faster at SAM/OTTO. lots of folks will be surprised at how much 'faster' Poz becomes.
Seriously doubt that one. Nothing will make that dude run faster than what he already is. But we'll continue to bring back duds and nearly washed up players like him while other free agents go to other teams. Caldwell is like the dude who goes to an auction with a $100,000,000 in a suitcase and bids on nothing. At least Gus will be fired after this season coming off another low winning year.
Looks like we will still have 60+ million left at the start of next season.

I think of all the possible f/a's out there, the Jags need to target Bulaga more than anyone else since it's so painfully obvious that our greatest need is our offensive line. I read that the buc's and the 'skins are also targeting him; well, either we are for real going to do something in free agency, or this whole deal was all hype. Given what Khan has said about not tolerating another season like these past two, I would think that Dave needs to take Bulaga even if his price is steep. I think we also take a chance with Julius so that we also have a legitimate threat at TE for a change.

I think if we get Suh it's ok, but we can live without him too; our o-line is a more major concern at this point than our d-line. Forget all that hype from our own 'team talking heads' about how our offensive line 'ain't that bad'... those guys are paid to tote the company line. On defense, I think we need speedy linebackers more that more d-linemen. Our middle has just been a plum that gets picked by any team with a TE who can catch the ball for too long.

We'll see what happens, but I almost get the feeling that the Redskins/Buccaneers/Jaguars will end up battling for Bulaga/Parnell/Barksdale. If this is the case, we will get a good RT to improve the spot no matter which guy it is.

Poz tried to do too much and cover for other's deficiencies. He will have a much smaller area to cover if we get the upgrades at the other positions. As to the rest of your post, hmm, maybe you need a tissue? Would hate to be a fan of a team I felt so bad about.
Quote:From everything I've seen Poz has plenty of speed to player the MLB position. What games/TEs are your referring to?
for example, the 'skins, eagles, colts... heck, just about everyone we've played who had a decent TE would just run them across the middle for easy gains. The Jag's have been notorious for their seeming inability to cover crossing receivers... particularly TE's, for some time now. The chargers game was actually almost laughable in how easily Rivers moved down the field just tossing the ball to wide open receivers in the middle. Haven't you been watching the games the last couple of years?
Our priorities should be:

1.  Thomas - It just makes too much sense to get the far more productive Thomas for only slightly more money than Lewis.  Bortles could use a proven target and help him put some points on the board.

2.  McCourty - We could use a quality veteran presence in our very young secondary.

3.  Bulaga - Right tackle is a big need.  Given two rookies plus a young Joekel on the line, a veteran presence would be a better fit than a draft pick.

4.  Wide Receiver - It may be a "second tier" guy or a "stopgap" player, but I think we need to get some type of veteran presence as insurance against our three second year wide receivers not developing as hoped.

Most of the FA we were going after are gone now or will be by Tuesday. We have to get players that are not stars now and just plain hope. Like Marks!
Julius Thomas would be a nice addition to the offense, not many TEs of that caliber in the league. Make a splash and sign him if possible.

Yeah, we're finding out the whole "Yes we have the most cap room, but nobody gives even one flip about Jax" sucks.
Reports showing we're 1 of 5 teams showing interest in Greg Hardy. I hope we cash in on him
