Nice run by UNF. Young team that should be the favorites in the conference next year.

Meh, I hope Jahlil Okafor goes for 40 and 20 on Bob Morris.
Amazing they were in this game despite losing the turnover battle 19-5. So uncharacteristic of them. But that's the danger in a one game playoff.

Shucks. They should be back next year. No competition in the ASun with FGCU and Upstate losing all their best players.
Let's just hope Driscoll is back...

Eh I'm not too worried. He's already 50 and one ncaat berth shouldn't have everybody knocking down his door. But I guess you never know.
Just noticed Driscoll didn't call a single timeout in the second half. Pretty bizarre given RM had a couple of big runs.

:/

He could leave but I just get a feeling he stays here for the long haul. Dude probably has that job for life if he wants it.

I hope he stays too.

His half time quote was something like 'ballers are gonna ball and dudes are gonna be dudes', something along those lines, I don't think he is going anywhere.
Bad news for UNF.

Northern Kentucky is leaving the ASUN for the Horizon next year. Leaves the conference with seven teams. Must have eight to qualify for a spot in the NCAAT. Commish better get calling.

That's like 5 teams that have left the conference recently.

East Tennessee State, Campbell, Mercer, Belmont, and now NKU.
UNF has to be looking at moving at some point too.

I guess the Southern conference would be the ideal place to move to. Best to move while the iron is still hot as well.
I thought the Atlantic Sun was a good fit for UNF when it joined in 2005. But you cannot sit on your hands while all of these other schools (Mercer, East Tennessee, Belmont, N Kentucky) keep leaving. The athletic budget has increased in recent years. The school won the mens basketball title for the first time. They are in first place in baseball. Now is probably a good a time as any to make the move. It would not surprise me to see Gulf Coast move at some point also.

I almost mentioned this a few posts back when this was brought up. It would be a viable option I think. They'd fit in more then sufficiently when it comes to the overall academics overall that the conference looks for. I was kind of hoping that JU would of made a bid a few years back when the SoCon was looking for a couple football schools to replace Ga. Southern and App State. I don't think they wanted to go away from the non scholarship thing just yet.

If UNF got in, they'd also have a conference who would take them as a football school if they decided to go that route. They are at 8 in football and I know they'd like to get up to at least 10, and they're at 10 in basketball.

Here's hoping. I could see all my Citadel teams once a season down this way! (well minus football)
Based on this release, it sounds like 7 is the minimum number of schools for an automatic bid.

Either way, this is obviously a conference used as a stepping stone for schools. Some have moved up for football reasons. Kennesaw is starting football this fall, so how much longer will they remain in the Altantic Sun?

whew

Must've misread the article I read.
NJIT is joining the Atlantic Sun. Not great geographically, but seem like a solid program in the way up. Beat Michgan and someone else last year.

I find it hard to believe that the conference could find a better fit geographically.

Could or couldn't? To me it reeks of desperation.
