I'm not sure why if we have interest, anyone would assume it would be with the third pick.

More likely, they may be interested if we trade out and he's there at the lower pick.

If we trade out of three, we're going to have much more flexibility and choice.

Yep, he might be the only of the generally considered 1st round pass rushers left if we did happyen to trade down to 20.

At this point, Bud Dupree is more likely to fall to #20. I thought I heard he initially was projected as a second round pick.
Quote:Ray isn't bad, per se, he's just not as good as Fowler, Beasley, or Dupree.

Not saying he's right, but this guy thinks Fowler is the one slightly behind the others.

<p class="" style="font-size:16px;">I haven't graded Vic Beasley, Eli Harold, or anyone else yet. Also, Ray, Gregory, & Dupree all got the same grade, Fowler just a hair below.

Personally, I don't think any of these tweeners are worth #3.  But in this class, we may have to reach there if we can't move out.
The headline should say, "Dave Caldwell blowing pre-draft smoke again".

Again?

When has he done that?

never

He's never been forthcoming with his strategy for first round picks - but beyond that he's been very transparent.

He held his cards close to his vest on the Bortles pick - but he never blew smoke.

He flat-out said they'd look hard at WR last year - then took two early.

(And when did Tony Pauline rumors =  Dave Caldwell?)

if he checks out good on his pro day, sig bet says he won't be there at 20?

Been here half a decade (or significantly longer even if we count my previous account) without having a signature, don't feel the need to get one now.

No it shouldn't. Saying he is interested in a player means just that - he wants to learn more and explore that guy as an option.

Nobody knows yet if Shane Ray is worthy of a top five pick.

He also never said the #3 pick is open to trading, a sure sign he wanted a guy expected to be gone early, and said there are three guys we like at that pick number.
Quote:Why do you think that? Teams don't trade by saying, "Hey, you want this guy? You'll miss out on him if you don't move up."
Actually, yes, they do. That's kind of the whole point of trading draft picks: move up and get someone you'll miss out on later.

if you win you still won't have one. See how that works?
I believe whatever is said out loud is usually different then actually doing it. Jags will throw smokescreens until the draft and surprise us all with their pick, like last year.

Surprising everyone last year does not mean we threw a lot of smoke around. We kept a secret, but never lied about our plans for the #3 pick.
Quote:I read the smoke signals last year. You have to listen to what he doesn't say.

I haven't heard anything about us being interested in Mariota yet. He must be Caldwell's guy.

If it goes Winston//Williams @ 1 and 2....why not?*

We know based on who was picked last year David Caldwell does not want Marcus Mariota.

How do you know that?

Want and Need are two completely different things....

He may not Need Mariota based off who he picked last year but if Williams is gone by pick #3 and no Trade is offered he may want Mariota to try and force a trade.
