Maybe I'm nuts, but I'd do that. A proven sack artist who is, what, 25 years old? I'd pull the trigger.
Quinn, yes.

Quote:I wouldn't trade the third overall pick for any single player, period.
I'm with you on this one. Even if its Watt or Rodgers I just idk Something just doesnt seem right. But I would not be mad if we some how did trade for a true super star.
I'd rather Earl Thomas or JJ Watt
I'll throw another name out for the sake of discussion.  Would you trade pick # 3 in the 2015 Draft to the Jets for Sheldon Richardson,  who would very likely be a good fit in any Defensive Scheme?   Richardson won't turn 25 until late November.

Quote:OK, The Titans just selected Leonard Williams with Pick 2 and Marcus Mariota is available.

The Rams call the Jags while they are on the clock and offer Robert Quinn - DE in a straight up trade for Pick 3.

Jags get Robert Quinn for Pick 3, nothing else.

Do you make that trade?

(Totally hypothetical)

At this time I'm not sure what my decision would be if in the position to make the trade.   But for the Jaguars,  the trade would be feasible because of their tremendous salary cap situation.   The same can't be said about it being feasible for many,  if not most other teams.

I wouldn't make the trade for Aldon Smith because of his character/ suspension issues.
Quote:I agree with this. A known commodity, no matter how good, is not worth giving up a chance to draft a young transcendent player early in a draft.

This is idiotic. So for the sake of this ridiculous argument, if the Packers decided tomorrow that they were willing to trade Aaron Rodgers to Tampa for the 1st overall pick, then Tampa should pass and take Winston instead?

Please don't respond.

I'll respond just to spite you. :-) How long has Aaron Rodgers been in the league again? What 10 years? Finished last year with a shredded calf and missed half of the previous season due to an injury correct?Aaron Rodgers alone isn't enough for the Bucs to win the Super Bowl either. The Seahawks was able to build a young, strong team because they didn't have a fortune tied up in Russel Wilson's contract and could afford luxuries like Cliff Avirl and Percy Harvin. The one biggest advantage any struggling team has is being able to draft CHEAP young talent. Trading away early draft picks for a veteran robs the team of being able to take advantage of cheap rookie contracts. The fact you fail to see this tactic is kinda surprising to me. (Not to mention that trades like this NEVER happen kinda make the whole point moot don't it?)
Quote:Luck? Rodgers? Watt?

You're insane if you wouldn't trade #3 for Watt.
We have a QB. If we didn't have one, then yeah, trading three for Andrew Luck is a no-brainer.

I wouldn't trade the third overall pick for Watt. I have no statistical (or even logical) reasoning for that stance, I just wouldn't do it. I feel like the potential is there to get someone better.
Quote:Watt is by far the best defensive player in the league and could be the best player period.

Trading our #3 pick (someone who you have no clue what type of player they will be) is a no brainer.

Of course that is just hypothetical fantasy because the Texans would never trade with us. If they want a top five pick, they'll trade with the Raiders or Redskins. And they won't offer J.J. Watt. But I would love to trade for Watt if I could.
Quote:I'd rather get Earl Thomas or JJ Watt

Earl Thomas would fail a physical right now. My understanding is failed physicals void trades (that has happened before). But hypothetically speaking, he would be a great player to go after with the #3 pick.

If only J.J. Watt was in a different division . . .

The fact that people want to trade away early first round picks (that we suffered through suckage for) for other teams stars instead of drafting and growing your own shows what the effects of long term exposure to Madden can do to people.

I am in complete agreement here.

He would seem to fit scheme.

He plays a premium position.

He is still in his prime and is an impact player.

Someone BETTER than the only guy in NFL history to record two 20 sack seasons who is still in his prime?!?

Not knocking the talent pool in this draft, but good luck with that.

Lol, yeah that's funny

Not knocking the talent pool in this draft, but good luck with that.
Would you guys trade the pick for Khalil Mack?
Would have to be Mack,Rodgers,Watt , maybe Julio Jones, Megatron, or Luck.

Quinn is good but we might as well take their picks and still find a first round pass rusher.
A lot of people are over valuing a stupid 3rd pick in the draft over taking some young all pros? Quinn or Houston? You'd be a fool not to make that happen. So far Caldwell has turned two top 3 picks into a soft sorry left tackle and a qb that had the worst qb rating outta all starters. Wait for his trifecta to be another washed player putting up trash stats. Fans gonna fan and have idiotic logic when it comes to their team though.

This is a hypothetical.

And if you wouldn't trade the unproven and unknown #3 pick for the best defensive player in the NFL by an enormous margin, you are flat out wrong. This isn't even an opinion. It would be a no brainer. Winston goes #1 and Williams goes #2 and you would still take your chance on Fowler, Gregory or Beasley??? Over a guy who gets 20 sacks and effects every single play??

Someone better than Watt???

Good thing you're not the hypothetical GM of this team in the hypothetical situation. If it ever came out that you passed on the Watt trade and instead took Fowler, you would be out of a job in a hypothetical heart beat.
