last season.
He's more eager/willing to trade out this year.
The top pass rushers are better suited for 3-4 OLB.
The one elite DL will likely be gone (Williams.)
IMO, our board looks like this:
Williams
Trade
Cooper
Scherff
If there's a pick they may covet, it's probably Williams. At the same time they probably realize he isn't likely to be there.
That leaves the motivation to trade down and add talent.
You don't think they like Fowler there if they can't trade out?
Scherff isn't that high. Collins would be above him.

I think this is pretty accurate.
Especially the part about the edge rushers being 3-4 OLB types.
I want no part of Dupree here in Jacksonville, I can tell you that.

Whoa... Cooper over Fowler?

I think they'd rather not draft him that high.
But that's nothing more than a personal opinion.
I still see him better fit at 3-4 OLB where he can rush or drop. That's the problem with all the rushers at the top, I personally see them as better 3-4 fits. Which is why I think they'd like to trade out if Williams isn't there.
Who knows, best case may be QBs go 1 and 2 and lets us have our guy.

This is what I really hope for. The Titans may end up taking Mariotta after all. No one knew we were taking Blake last year. This would be the perfect scenario for us.

I think everyone who is a Jags fan is praying that 2 QBs are taken at #1 and #2. Big Leonard, come on down!

not me, I'm hoping a qb goes 1 and Titans take a pass rusher then a team trades up for Mariota or Winston, which ever one is still on the board.

I'd rather take a trade down as well. This team needs more picks and if we can score a huge trade with the Iggles then I hope Dave pulls the trigger. A haul like that, if Dave drafts as well as he appears to have so far, could be a franchise changing trade.
It gives them extreme versatility in the draft and I think there will be good talent to select from in the 20's and far past it.
Being a two QB race, whoever wants the second may have to get to #2 to get him, too.
We seem to be in the proverbial win-win situation. Either we get a freak of nature top class talent in Leonard Williams to terrorize our AFC South enemies for many years to come, or we could get the King's ransom from a team looking to come up and get a QB. Either way, this could be a franchise changing draft.
At this time last year, we didn't know Dave and Gus were sold on Bortles. Sure, Gus game Blake a big hug at Blake's pro day but we didn't realize that was a #3 pick at that time. I recall most people thinking Sammy Watkins or a trade down scenario for 1 of the QBs (Bortles, Bridgewater, Manziel).

Very true. He only let that genie out of the bottle after the draft. But when he did, he revealed it wasn't close, and that he'd decided during his UCF game viewing. He just kept his feelings quiet to see if the rest of his staff came to the same conclusion, and they all did.
I just can't see another player being "that" guy other than Williams. This draft is not so hot on elite prospects at the top.

Not sure about this. The Titans only trade down if they don't want him, and everyone knows we aren't drafting a QB. So no need to reach up to 2 unless there is a bidding war.

I agree with the gist of your post, except for the fact that you should have said Caldwell, not Bradley. It was Caldwell who was sold on Bortles last year, and it will be Caldwell who makes the decision this year.
I think now that the Combine is in full swing, the players I see rising to the Top 10 include
1. Jameis Winston - QB - FSU
2. Marcus Mariota - QB - Oregon
3. Leonard Williams - DT - USC
4. Amari Cooper - WR - Alabama
5. Kevin White - WR - West Virginia
6. Danny Shelton - DT - Washington
7. Dante Fowler - DE/OLB - Florida
8. Shane Ray - DE/OLB - Missouri
9. Brandon Scherff - OG - Iowa
10. Randy Gregory - OLB - Nebraska
There are probably more teams that like Mariota than they like Winston, but Winston will be taken by the Bucs.
In the end, the Titans will take Mariota because they can't pass on a talent like his.
Lastly the Jags will draft Leonard Williams - DT/DE because he falls in the Jags laps and he is so much better a player than Cooper, White, Shelton or Fowler.
David Caldwell is playing his card very close to the vest and by doing so, he will force the Titans to take the QB or trade out of the Pick or else the Jags will take the trade the Titans turn down to take Leonard Williams.

I think you're probably right in the end. Barring any significant setbacks for Mariota or Winston, I can see your scenario playing out very easily. I don't think Tennessee is sold on any of their current crop of QBs.
I think Williams winds up in Jacksonville as the tacks either take Mariota, or they trade out to a team like St. Louis (if they trade Bradford to Cleveland) or even the Saints. Brees is probably winding down in New Orleans.
If the tacks take Williams, then I see the Jags trying to work a deal with one of these teams to allow them to leapfrog New York to get Mariota.
