OK. How about this scenario? I read that the Eagles have a potential trade in place with the Jets in which the Eagles would get the #6 pick, while the Jets would get the Eagles #20 pick, their 2nd round pick and their 1st and 2nd round picks next year. So how about this scenario. We take the deal instead of the Jets. At the Eagles #20 spot, we take DT Arik Armstead to pair with Marks. Armstead is a very good run stuffer and has all the traits and potential to be a dominant pass rusher given time. So, there we have a dominant pairing in the interior. Next year, depending on where we pick, we trade our 1st round pick as well as the Eagles pick to move up to as high as we need to select DE Joey Bosa. That guy is going to be an absolute beast at the NFL level. He could be our LEO and boy can he get after the QB or RB. Between Marks, Armstead, Bosa and whoever we would have at the other end, we would have a young line that would have to be considered the best or 2nd best D-Line in the NFL.
Quote:Not so sure about that. Based upon what Oesher said yesterday, if Williams is not there, then the trade down option would come into play. Still, how does the trade down work without the QB falling past Pick 2?
Makes it extremely tough to impossible.

Dave "more open" to trading down this year.
I think the real news here is that he turned down not one, but two trade offers last year.

You think that was the Bills? They sure seemed like they wanted Watkins.
We could have moved down to 9 and still gotten Blake but then also get their #1 this year.

Could we have gotten Blake at 9 though? Hard to say.

Yea... Not really sure at all.

I don't consider that news since they knew who their guy was, and they weren't going to let him go.

Probably. I doubt Blake would've lasted that long though.
Quote:While I am having problems providing links on this forum, in the Titans mail box at ESPN.com, there is this comment...
"Mike Sando (ESPN Reporter) spoke with one GM who said he believes the Jaguars are more likely to trade out of the No. 3 spot than the Titans are to trade out of No. 2"
If this trade down happens it will be because the Titans ask for too much and the Jags ask for a lot less.
One crazy option I heard last night of PFT TV from Brian Westbrook, (which obviously means nothing) is that the Eagles might give up their entire draft (all their picks in the 2015 draft). If they perhaps added a No. 2 in 2016, that might be enough for the Jags to fill their roster with players drafted. It would also give Caldwell plenty of picks to trade up and grab the players he wants in the 2nd and 3rd rounds (2nd Day).
The Eagles are projected to have picks: 20, 52, 84, 119, 155, 191, 228
THIS IS JUST A RUMOUR, and so it should be treated as such.
Your thoughts are much welcomed though.
Diabolical laughter ensues
Eagles, Jets, Bills needs a QB. Browns too maybe? If this is perceived as a 3 person draft with the 2 QBs and Williams, that really helps the Jags. If Dave doesn't get too greedy, he could have a deal already in his pocket on draft day, contingent on Mariota being there at #3. If Williams is there, Dave has to take him. If not, I'd be fine with a package of picks. I'm never comfortable spending a high pick on a pass rusher. So many of them turn out to be..Derrick Harvey.
Dave has done well finding value in the middle rounds. I wouldn't mind trading down and stockpiling picks. Dave seems to know when to pull out the extra ammo, like last year when he moved up to get Linder after a run on Guards thinned the list of starter-quality players available.

Not really surprising to me. It would take a lot to pry a GM from the pick he believes will be his franchise QB.

Agree

That's why I don't really get how the Jags being more willing to trade down this year compared to last year is considered "news".
Of course Dave would be more willing to trade down this year, he doesnt have to worry about losing his QB.
idk, trading down 17 spots to where the eagles are for example would be too much for me.
I'd still like to pick in the top 10-12 because I still think we need an impact guy THIS year as well.
To me... it's simple. Take Leonard Williams at #3... or try a very awesome trade-back. If nobody is giving you a king's ransom, then you just take Dante Fowler.

I agree. I would probably take the best trade down offer I could get, though.
With a trade back - I could see them go after a guy like Vic Beasley. I think he can be the OTTO Gus has been talking about.

i agree. If you're getting a "franchise QB" out of this, I'm gonna need ATLEAST 2 1st round draft picks.
Several scenarios are out there whereby the Eagles trades up from Pick 20 to Pick 2 (or Pick 3).
First is modeled after the 2011 trade in which the Falcons traded up with the Browns to move up 21 spots;
The cost: 2 - 1st Rd picks; 1 - 2nd Rd Pick and 2 - 4th Rd Picks
The closest translation to that trade would be the Eagles trading
2 - 1st Rd Picks (2015, 2016); 1 - 2nd Rd Pick (2015) and Nick Foles - QB (who is probably worth a 2015 Rd 2 selection)
This is the richest trade offer the Titans will get for Pick 2.
If the Titans trade back with the Jets, Bears, or Redskins, they most likely only are get an extra Rd 2 selection in 2015.
Of course the craziest scenario is the Mike Ditka trade of all of the Eagles picks in 2015 for Mariota. Ditka was with the Saints in 1999 and made that trade to secure Ricky Williams.
My feeling is that would be the trade that Dave Caldwell would prefer from the Eagles for Pick 3.
In the end, the Titans will either take Marcus Mariota or they will trade with the Eagles to get Foles as their QB and take the three high draft picks for Pick 2.
Either way, Leonard Williams falls into the Jags laps at Pick 3.
One of the trade offers last year was Atlanta, who wanted to move up from pick 6, but were only offering a 3rd round pick. Giving up the believed franchise QB to gain an additional 3rd round pick was not worth it. It was not a king's ransom offer by any means.
Listening again to Caldwell's combine video, he says a couple times that, in his 3rd year of rebuild, he is looking for some "dynamic playmakers". I get the sense from listening again that trading down to Philly's pick 20 may not be a fit to his plan. I think the dynamic playmakers are generally in the top 10-12 picks.
