Quote:Unlike Gregory? Gregory is 6'6 and 245 with crazy long arms. Fowler, although I would love the Jags to take him won't even make 6'3.
Quote:No way, does what Randy Gregory weigh now impact whether or not the Jags draft him. Ultimately, I think Randy Gregory will be the dominant player but it may take his 2nd or 3rd year to begin to really show what he is capable of doing. Dave Caldwell will be drafting for what the player ultimately will become not what he offers his rookie season.
Can Gregory be a dominant pass rusher in a traditional 4-3? Those are the primier guys. Gregory's size isn't an issue on this team, but that doesn't mean it has no effect on his draft value.

Gregory's history of repeated injuries is a concern.

Give us Suh !!!

I would love Suh, but in my opinion, Fowler isn't a top 5 prospect. To me, he's a bottom of the first round guy. He gets dominated by bigger players at the point of attack. Dominque Easley was easily, no pun intended, the better of the two prospects.

Quote:Here's a question that I would be interested in your input on.
If Ndamukong Suh hits the open market without being Tagged, what is the approximate best contract offer you would be comfortable with the Jaguars making to him/ agent Jimmy Sexton?
Well he's 28 so you've got about 2-3 years of prime performance left in my estimate. After that you're really paying him for what he's done in the past in hopes he can extend it a little in the twilight years. So IF they go after him I'd imagine it would be a front loaded contract with protection on the back end. He starts to decline in year 4 they can cut him with little dead money if any. But the overall contract I suspect he's going to command somewhere around 20 million a season average. I see him getting a 5 year 100 million contract somewhere, as long as it's structured right I'd be fine with that being us. I'm not a salary cap expert but they'd have to make sure the bonuses are paid up front or something, you don't want 20 million chained to a 32 and 33 year old DT in years 4 and 5.

Eric, thanks for your input.
One advantage the Jaguars have compared to most teams is the salary cap flexibility to front load contracts. This could appeal to Ndamukong Suh if he hits the open market.
A key reason why Suh has tremendous contract leverage is he's been extremely durable. In 5 seasons he never even missed a practice due to injury. Other than a 2011 two game suspension, the only time Suh missed a practice in the regular season is when he had the flu this past December. Because Suh keeps himself in tip top shape and has an elite durability track record, it wouldn't surprise me if he remains a differential DT for 5 more seasons. Maybe even a little longer.
Many estimates have Suh getting a contract that will exceed what the Texans gave to J.J. Watt. With close to $ 55 million in guaranteed money.

I was thinking $60 million guaranteed... 6 years/$90 million...$15/per

How much of fat alberts contract was guaranteed way back when he signed with the Redskins? I thought I remembered him getting a $100 million contract?

Because of Ndamukong Suh's track record of durability, if this was the asking price of Ndamukong Suh and agent Jimmy Sexton, that contract would make sense for teams that can afford the contract ( based on their salary cap situation ).

According to the following article, the number was $ 41 million. Of course the NFL Salary Cap limit was noticeably lower in 2009 than it will be in 2015:

I'm so clueless anymore about this stuff. I'm so used to having below average players and not paying them anything more than the typical $4m/year for potential.

Fowler actually can play both and can drop in coverage. Fowler also played both Sam olb and the Buck positions. The buck position is very similar to the Jags Leo position. I think u might have Ronald Powell and Fowler confused.

JJ Watt got a 6 year $100m contract, with a $10m signing bonus (gets amortized), a $10m roster bonus (full cap hit when paid), and base salaries. About $52m was guaranteed, and the deal averaged $16.7m per year.
Gerald McCoy got a 6 year $95m contract, with a $2.5m signing bonus, and base salaries. About $51.5m was guaranteed, and the deal averaged $15.9m per year.
My guess is that a deal for Suh would be somewhere in the vicinity of these deals, likely with a large upfront amount such as Watt's deal and average in the $17-18m range to get him to depart Detroit.

Give me JPP, Fowler (OLB), and Bulaga

It would be interesting of they drafted Fowler and then lined him up at OTTO on 3rd downs. We could have Clemons, Davis, Marks, Branch, and Fowler all coming after the QB.

Sign somebody! Suh or Houston. Then draft Williams or Fowler. I would settle for some big names like JPP.
Sitting on 70 million in cap space does this team nothing. That opinion is becoming more respectable throughout the league.

Houston and Williams would be my personal choice..

I'm getting the feeling that Houston won't come close to the market though. Suh, Dez, Demaryius and Houston (top 4 FA's) will not reach the market.
I'm also a little surprised at some of Priscos rankings. He ranks Torrey Smith over Maclin. Kind of odd.
