Quote:Some people are so brainwashed they have literally twisted TAM's words which is sick.

He gave a well thought rational post on how he felt and the majority of responses on here are "all immigrants should be banned point blank period".

No he didn't.
Quote:I was paraphrasing the majority of responses in this thread

Also called lying.
Quote:Immigrants with visas, dual citizenships , and green cards are being detained and held at airports.

Are you not getting the facts yet.

Further screening after travel to potentially terrorist states. Overseas radicalization is a thing.
A temporary ban on immigration from countries with book keeping in shambles =/=  a religious revolution toppling a government and creating a dictatorship.

Put terrorism to the side for just a second, would those who are for bringing in refugees and against stringent vetting (ultimately that is what the temp ban is about fixing) be cool with a potential child molester from (insert country on temp ban list) being relocated to your neighborhood? Because there is that possibility if you know virtually nothing about the people being brought over. They could have been a career criminal from Sudan but you or anyone else would have no way of knowing it.

Strawman.
My only regret...

is he didn't...

ban more countries..
There is a legal and an illegal way to enter our country.

It is a privilege, not a right.

I'm sorry you can't respect that, especially because of your family.  My family, and my wife's more recently, all came here from elsewhere, and all did the right, lawful way.  To not respect that is a pure slap in the face to all who did.

It's a shame perspective and common sense, and a sense of what's right can't be understood - especially by those who think they're the smarter than everyone else.

If I were to be moving my family somewhere, or even traveling for a short time, I would be mindful of the current climate in that country.  If someone of my profile was not welcome, or were being under suspicion based on bad acts of someone fitting my profile - I would be wise enough and respectful enough to use caution going to that place.  Perhaps not even go there at all.

This isn't rocket science, just simple common sense.

Well I guess that is easier than addressing the possible outcomes from not being able to vet immigrants.
Quote:Strawman.
Yeah, strawman...

Pat Robertson loves him some Trump
TAM, I love you man. You know this, but your blatant disregard for the bet you made is really bugging me. Have some self respect man. Just because you decided to leave the forum for no reason doesn't excuse you from owning up to any bets you made.

I know a lot of legal immigrants.   Most of the ones I know are from Taiwan or China, but I also know a few from the middle east.   They are all harder working and more patriotic than almost any native born American I know.   That's why immigration is so good for this country and our economy.

Now, my opinion on the recently announced ban on people coming from specific countries?   Whether you agree with it or not, you have to admit, it was very very very poorly executed.  It doesn't seem like there was much preparation.  All of a sudden, legal residents are being detained at airports or are stuck in other countries.

I can agree on that. Something that drastic should have been looked over a bit harder (vetted...hey-oh) before it was signed. It would have saved a lot of headaches for folks who had to be detained at airports.
I don't think many could or would argue that implementation was poor at best.

He's the model fake Christian.

I just wonder, did any of Trump's advisors think, okay, once we sign this executive order, what will happen right off the bat.  It's like they didn't think it through at all.

Not really. The media is hyping it up more than anything. A policy like this is a PR nightmare because of how far left and anti-Trump the modern media is. Even Elon Musk agrees that the EO is straightforward if anyone cared to read it. Just don't buy into the bad punditry or fake news.

Pirk, the OP is about legal, not illegal immigration.  The people stranded overseas, at airports, or now have their travel restricted despite living in the land of the free are folks with legal visas or residency status - who did it "the right way".

I know the most vocal in the forum feel that Donald is ripping off the band aid, but there was no real wound underneath, and by ripping it off he's probably caused another, deeper, sore.

Your post also reveals that racial profiling is now expected by normal, sensible, people.  That doesn't make you a bad guy, but it does spotlight how we are beginning to think as a nation.

Unfair.

Sad.

Lest we forget vetting was never done.

"Profiling" is not an issue.  It's reality.  To ignore it for the sake of nonsensical "correctness" is being intellectually dishonest with ourselves.

Yes it is getting some unfair attention because of the lack of understanding and vagueness, but you have to admit that there was some unanticipated confusion with green card holder and those that hold specific, already approved visas that could have been avoided.
