This is the type of dude we need on the o-line! The guy plays angry! Now, where on the line is the issue. He doesn't have typical Tackle size, so why not let him compete with Beadles, who really wasn't that great this past year, especially considering his contract. Thoughts?

If he is not exclusively a right tackle, I don't want him. We need a player who has done nothing else his entire football career to truly upgrade the position.

we cant get him unless we reach for him with our first pick barring a trade up

I look at needs and available players at the Jags spot in the draft and I have to ask; would this really be much of a reach? I can come up with two guys I would grab before him, but they are defensive players and Lord knows the O-line needs help. Do the Jags go "Need" or "BAP", that's the million dollar question.

If we can't pull in Bulaga and Williams is off the board, I think the pick comes down to Scherff and Gregory. He certainly fits the idea of building a run-first offense,as well as helping out protection in the pass.
Unless we trade with Cleveland for their 2 mid first round picks forget about him. I agree with you though about the player. He would be a great mid first round pick

Offensive linemen change positions. Deal with it.
I think he would give our OLine some of the nastiness it desperately needs, but I really can't see it happening. We will sign someone in free agency (it might not be the player we want, but there will be someone)

And besides, I wonder if Scherff has the quick feet and mobility to play their preferred zone blocking system...

Look at the mocks. How many of them have Brandon Sherff being picked in the top five? Look at the draft prospect rankings. How many of them have Sherff as one of the top five names on that list? If the answer to either question is zero, he is a huge reach at #3.

No team with two first round picks trades both of them to the same team to move up. Last year Cleveland traded down from #4, then up from #26. So you can forget about that. However the Browns could offer a second round pick if we are interested in #12.
I think scherff will probably go somewhere between 4 and 10.

I'm not huge on making a reach, but if we can't trade down to a lower spot where we know we can get him and Williams is off the board...then he wouldn't be a bad pick at 3.

Better than forcing the medias value on your team.
Give me Brandon Scherff in a Jaguars uniform all day. I don't care if it's at 3 or 10. He's going to be a spectacular player. He's not going to be the LT of the future but he's got all the ability in the world. He's tough as nails, strong as an ox, he's smart, a good all around guy off the field and he'll put in the work.
I am not so sure that Brandon Scherff fits a Zone Blocking Scheme.

He appears to fit more of a Power Blocking Scheme.

They aren't going to run strictly a ZBS anyway. I think he fits at RT well.

Everyone wants Bulaga in FA but Scherff is a better player with a higher ceiling coming out of Iowa.
I would be beyond angry if he is the pick.

Most scouts are saying that Brandon Scherff's best position is OG.

Why would any team take a OG with a Top 3 pick?

Well smarty pants, ask and you shall receive!

If LW is gone by the 3rd pick, trade down, take this big nasty.. Maybe he could teach Joeckel how to be nasty too..

I think too many people get hung up on draft position versus player position. It used to be that you were insane to draft anyone but a QB or DE in the top five. If we have a glaring need for OL help and the guy obviously has the tools, why not? This draft is overall pretty weak with all but a few LBs, DEs, linemen. Should the Jags draft a high prospect in hopes of upgrading the defensive side that has already started to develop or draft for obvious need for a dumpster fire OL?
