Quote:Odell Beckham makes the Bills look stupid. How in the world did they not know he is a better receiver than Sammy Watkins after all those one-handed catches at LSU? But at the time everybody said Watkins is the best wide receiver in the draft followed by Mike Evans, so I thought the decision to trade up was smart until Beckham made the play of the year.
So you knew Beckham was better? Not to mention that it has been only one season and Beckham has a better QB.
Also, a few weeks ago there was a report that Watkins was #1 WR in Giants board.

After the miraculous catch Cris Collinsworth called "impossible," Les Miles said Odell Beckham did that all the time at LSU. That tells me all NFL scouts who watched him play and went to LSU's Pro Day had to know he can do it.

So? Brandon Lloyd probably had more amazing catches than any other WR in the last decade, that doesn't mean he was the best WR in that time.

I have brought dishonor to my family for forgetting his game
The jags trade back to number 8 with the Falcons. The Falcons need a pass rusher maybe worse than anybody in the nfl and if they stay at 8 then they will certainly miss out again.
The impression I have of David Caldwell is that he has a plan and that plan includes securing a DE that can create pressure on the QB. These type players are sought by almost every team and they are few and far between. Accordingly, unless the Jags are blown away by some trade down package the Jags will in all likelihood take either Leonard Williams or Randy Gregory with Pick 3.
It is possible at Pick 8 that both Shane Ray of Missouri and Dante Fowler of Florida will be available and if that is the case, then why would the Falcons give up a Rd 2 pick and more to move up? The Falcons can not afford to mortgage their draft for these players and I am not sure that David Caldwell would move down for merely the Falcons Rd 2 pick.

After reading more of your posts, I feel like you're projecting your own thoughts and desires as they are Caldwell's.
Nothing has been or would be put out there to tip us as to what the organization might be thinking.
What gives you this impression that Caldwell plans on securing a DE? Gregory isn't as hot of a name as he used to be before this season.
I feel like you're holding onto hype that's faded.
It has been widely reported that David Caldwell came to the Jags with a plan to rebuild the roster. In his first draft class he secured the much needed OLT. In the second draft class he secured the much needed QB. The third leg is to secure the DE that can put pressure on the QB. No one knows what David Caldwell will do in this upcoming draft including David Caldwell, but it is not hard to guess that he most likely will take the DE that puts pressure on the QB in line with his master rebuild plan for the Jags roster.
Regarding Gregory, unless you are totally blind to rating services across the internet then you must see that Gregory remains a Top 5 selection on almost every draft board. Contrary to his sack stats, it has been widely reported by scouts that Gregory made huge gains in his play from his Soph season to his Jr season with the use of his hands. Gregory suffered from some injuries this past season and it is clear he needs to get much stronger and bigger, but his ceiling is what is used to project his draft position and his ceiling may be higher than any one player in this draft class.

Watching him play this season, I just saw more of the same as last season.
Struggles to get off blocks (very badly)
Relies on athletic ability instead of technique.
Also seems to either give up or loaf on the play when it seems like its not going his way.
If I can see that, I'm sure scouts can too. Someone will probably grab him based on physical ability and potential and I'm sure there is a small chance he can become that great player but it doesn't sound like someone you take at 3 and it doesn't sound like someone that the jags can afford to mess with right now.
Also, like I said, it sounds like you're creating Dave's plan for him. Maybe Dave and Gus are content with branch in that role. We don't know any of this.
No one can change the mind of one who has already decided. I will not try. I will merely say we disagree and since I am not the one who make the decisions with what the Jags do or not do, then what I think really does not matter in the slightest.

same here
The only trade back scenario for the Jags I envision would be if one of the 2 QBs slip to pick 3.
Greg Rosenthal at NFL.com wrote a good article (12/14/2014: QB Index), in which he laid out a significant supply and demand issue this year for the QB position. With the free agent QB pool one of the thinnest in recent memory, he believes teams looking for a starter or development/upgrade QB will need to turn to the draft more strongly this year. He names 7 teams that are likely to desire a QB this year, including Bills, Jets, Texans, Titans, Bucs, Redskins, and Rams. He then names 4 more teams that would like to get one for development/upgrade purposes, including Cardinals, Eagles, Browns, and Bears.
With 2 QBs in the draft at the top, and a significant fall-off in talent thereafter, the Jags pick at 1-3 will be extremely valued should the Bucs or Titans pass on one of them with the first two picks. As Mayock has stated, the one position that teams will historically reach for in the draft is the QB positon. This year will be no exception.
So why would not the Titans take advantage of the trade down opportunity?
Its not like the Titans roster does not need some upgrading.
Quote:So why would not the Titans take advantage of the trade down opportunity?
Because they love a guy available at two and don't think they'll get him after a trade down.
IMO, the best situation for the Jags here would be the Bucs taking Winston at one and the Titans taking Leonard Williams at two. That leaves us with Marcus Mariota on the board and a few teams likely interested in moving up to get him. We can get a guy like Randy Gregory, Shane Ray or Dante Fowler later on in the top ten.
The Titans could trade down. For the right price, I think any team could be convinced to trade back.
Quote:The Jags trade back to number 8 with the Falcons. The Falcons need a pass rusher maybe worse than anybody in the NFL and if they stay at 8 then they will certainly miss out again.
What makes you think all of the great pass rushers will be gone before the Falcons pick? There is no way that can happen because the Buccaneers, Titans, Jaguars, Raiders, Redskins, Jets, and Bears don't all need pass rushers. Staying put is good enough to get one of Leonard Williams, Randy Gregory, Shane Ray, and Dante Fowler.

So you want to play against Leonard Williams twice a year? If he is anything like J.J. Watt, I certainly don't.
The ideal scenario would be Tennessee trades down so we can get the best defensive lineman instead of a division rival.

Stop worrying about what other teams do and focus on this team. I know it's hard for you since you root for the Packers and Broncos.
Texans took Clowney and some people threw a fit.... Clowney did nothing.

That's not really true. I mean, he made a
monster, highlight reel level, hit in the Preseason.
