Quote:But if it worked, everybody would say it was a great call, right? That is how we are. People say great call when it works and terrible call when it doesn't all the time.
My personal opinion is because Pete Carroll said the purpose was to take time off the clock, Russell Wilson should have been told to throw the ball away, not to a receiver.
No, we still would have wondered why he didnt run the ball.
Quote:How come Wilson gets no blame? He threw the pass, he should have read the defense, he could have ran with it, thrown it away, etc etc. But the whole nfl, from owners to fans never blame wilson. He didn't play well, no where near brady.
Huh? Brady didnt play well. All he did was dink and dunk his way down feild. They were scared of them boys. But the Pats knew one thing..... The Hawks didnt have the same pass rush as last year. If they did, then that game would've even been close. Brady looked bad. They had him throw a rookie game last night.
Quote:Not sure why they were worried about leaving time on the clock. Zero chance Brady is able to drive the length of the field in under a minute. He dinked his way down the field the entire game.
He has dinked and dunked his way to a FG in the final seconds many times, even in the superbowl.
It was a call some kid would make an a online game of madden. Heck id probably call that in madden but good lord you have marshawn lynch at the 1.
Wilson could have told the Pats D pre snap at the line they were running it and which direction and still Marshawn gets that in.

The guy comes back from 10 under in the SB against the best D in the league in a game where he can't run the ball well and against the best secondary in the league and he didn't play well? Are you serious?
The Pats had less than 3 YPC from their RBs and Brady throws 50 times against one of the best secondaries of all time AND I would say one of his ints was Gronk's fault for not attacking the ball and he didn't play well? What does this guy have to do for some people? Wow.
With Russel Wilson I don't understand not doing a bootleg of some sort. I could understand Lynch running it, but no one could even touch Wilson on runs. Wilson isn't Brady, he has a different game and they should use his running ability there. Even a wildcat would have been fine. NE isn't stopping the QB or the RB running. What they did was almost the only way to lose the game there. NE made a mistake IMO not calling TOs but apparently it mindfucked Seattle into throwing the ball somehow. I wonder if they assumed Seattle would call so they wanted to save theirs for coming back while Seattle was correcting running out time to prevent Brady from coming back.

Its easy to throw 3 yard routes and have your receivers push off for TDs and whatnot. And who needs a running game when you are throwing to the RBs out of the backfield 80% of the time.
That was the wrong call 100% of the time. They were in goal line, so we changed the play? What defensive formation did he expect see from the half-yard line? A prevent?
The absolute dumbest call in the history of the Super Bowl, maybe in the history of football.
The end result of this game is what you get when you try to get cute and creative at the wrong time. You've got a running back who can get you 4 yards with his eyes closed, and one time out. Everyone knows he's the big threat, so instead of doing the predictable thing, they get "creative" and they end up losing the biggest game of the year at the goal line. Sometimes doing what you do well trumps creativity.

Exactly.
I call Shenanigans... I ran that same play on Madden and it worked! :whistling:

Really? Easy?
Yea. Easy. With no pass rush and 3 yard outs, Henne could have won the superbowl last night.

TC did the same thing in both AFC Championship games here.
in fact, he ran the same play both times and had the same result.

No you've lost it. The Jaguars could not have won it last night with that game plan. I can't believe all this hate on the board. Pats played well, so did the Hawks.

Whatever you're taking, give me some. Because that was the most pop warner gameplan ever. Chris Collinsworth with his horrible commentary even called it out. How much NFL kool aid did you drink this season? The NFL Patriots dinked and dunked all night and stayed away from Sherman. Yes, the Jags could have won with that gameplan. There was NO pass rush until the end of the 3rd quarter.

Agree 100%

And yet the stats for the year show that Lynch isn't a goal line runner and had 0% success from inside the 1 yard line the ENTIRE season.
Calling it the worst superbowl play call ever is an exaggeration. Russel Wilson shouldn't have thrown an INT in that situation. Throw it out of bounds and you still have 2 runs left.

Congratulations on the stats. He scored from inside the 3 or 4 yard line earlier in the game. So there's that stat.

Congrats, the 4 isn't the one and the Pats were destroying him in short yardage all game long. It wasn't the given everyone makes it out to be.
