Looks like the Raiders are going to be chopping some wood.

Mike Smith will most likely join him as DC. Getting the old band back together.

"Jaguars of the West" is not something most franchises strive for. Should be interesting. As should MJD's future there.

Just wait for him to add all his buddies to his staff.

My worst memory of JDR was the week of the playoff game against New England in 2007. It was mid-afternoon in the middle of the week and I saw him testing out putters at the Edwin Watts at the beach.
Sure, these guys get time off, but it just summarized his tenure here in my eyes.

Just like Fred Taylor said when he went to NE to play, he said " the difference between a Shell hotdog and Ruth’s Chris steaks."

He also said something interesting about Del Rio which most of us feel about Gus Bradley:
“At the end of the day, [Del Rio] is not a head coach,” Taylor told Eric Adelson of the PostGame.com. “He’s a great defensive coach. But he’s not a head coach.”

I think its a great fit. Hopefully he has more talent in Oakland then he did here in JAX. He had close to .500 here as our coach he could do better there with a young team rebuilding.

I feel bad for Jack, as well. I think the Raiders roster is worse than ours.

Feel bad for him? Nobody forced him to take the job.

He's lucky. Raiders, not so much

Good luck to him...everyone should get a second shot at their dream.

It is. But sometimes its better to wait it out for better opportunities especially when your current option is a dysfunctional franchise. John Fox did just that when he declined to interview for the Jets job.

I actually think he's a solid choice for the Raiders. Has a QB in place and some pieces to work with on defense. They definitely need more players, but maybe he learned a thing or two in his few years in Denver and will be better his second time around as a HC.

Looks like Oakland wants some of that 'bend don't break all the way to the endzone' defense

Poor them.
JDR was never a bad coach, he was delt a diminishing roster with horrible draft after draft. The raiders finally seemed to have figured out the whole drafting thing and are accumulating talent. Add a more mature JDR and some wise positional coaching hires, they could be in great shape. The optimism in the Bay Area is high.

Nonsense. When you look at what he did in Jacksonville for nine years and what eight other coaches did for the Raiders since 2002, he is going to be a huge upgrade for Oakland.
