I remember Dave Caldwell saying that he thought Bortles was better than this crop of QBs and as I watched Mariota I couldn't help but agree (well Jameis is up for debate but he's a headcase). Heck, I might go as far as saying Cardale Jones looked better as NFL prospect than Mariota and he is a 3rd string Sophomore.

Mariota showed pretty good pocket presence and mobility but his accuracy and touch were average. He didn't look like he had the ability to thread the needle, and the defense Ohio played seemed to be confusing him.  Overall, I just came away very underwhelmed.

What did you guys think about Mariota and where he will go?I'm thinking either below pick 20 or round 2.

I was never sold on this dude.  Kaepernick 2.0 if lucky.

.... and in this world of comparisons ....... I'm seeing Jameis as Leftwich and Cardele Jones as Culpepper

I think we're going to start seeing a real drop off in NFL QB talent over the next 10 years with these offenses they are running in HS & College.

I think Kaepernick was a more prolific passer and runner than Mariota. If anything Mariota is a poor mans Kaepernick.
Interesting to think that Mariota may have been better off getting suspended for this game.  NFL teams can forgive getting high but they can't overlook glaring weaknesses that were exposed last night.

Kaepernick has elite arm strength. Mariota does not.

He accounted for over 370 yards of offense last night. I don't think he hurt himself last night. NFL teams already knows what he's capable of and what he needs to work on.

There's only so much you can do when you're allowing the other team to rush for 296 yards.
It's a bad sign that the first things people mention in regards to Mariota are his off-the-field behavior, scheme, and straight line speed. Unfortunately for us, I expect him to slide

Maybe Brett Hundley rises...

I'd rather Hundley over Mariota.

He's EJ Manuel 2.0
Winston showed in the Rose Bowl that he's the better QB and pro prospect. There is nothing overly impressive about Mariota's game.

His arm looked weak last night.

It's all the goofball Gatas have man, one play.
Its just a poor year for QBs, I mean not horrible but not top ten players. Almost reminds me of 2011 :-p

Oh there's plenty more in that game. That play may be 1A. 1B would be blocking each other.

Every year we hype up the next QB crop only to realize when it's time for that crop to come out that it sucks just as bad as all the previous ones.
Big John is a serious Winston fan boy. Almost to the point of being an actual family member. It is weird.

If you can't see it then I really don't know what to tell you. He's gonna go #1 to Tampa. The Bucs would be foolish to pass on him.
