I'm now fine,  Adam.   Thanks for your concern.

Sunday Night and yesterday were very difficult times.

I'm still holding off on commenting here on what transpired regarding the game and aftermath.    I plan on responding to many posts in this thread and in the other thread about the game when I have more time and a little more time passes.    Sometimes,  it's better to hold off.   I'm confident you and most others understand at least most of the thinking behind this,

Remember the first half was good. The Lions were like the Jaguars - good in the first half but could not finish the job.

Why are you a Lions fan?

Quote:One (1) playoff win since 1957.

That is some track record.
And people complain about how bad we have been since out last win in the playoffs 7 years ago. It can always be worse. GO JAGS

As you know,  a football game is at least 4 quarters.   Most of the first half provided good memories.   But the 2nd half is what will always stand out from the game.

From the moment when I was 8 years old that I became familiar with the Lions,   including the team tradition,  uniforms,  players,  and how that season was going,   I became a fan of the team.    Most people become fans of a team before they are 10 years old and remain a fan of the team regardless of what transpires with the team.  It's part of you.    An exception for some is in the case of a team like the Jaguars,  which was an expansion team.   For one or more reasons,  some start rooting for an expansion team when they are older.   Including an expansion team being close to home or wanting a fresh start.   Like most thngs in life,  it's a matter of preference.   For me,  while I have interest in following all 32 teams to some degree,  some more than others,   there's only one team I'll ever be a fan of.    While i will never question you for rooting for 3 teams,  it's not possible for me and the majority of people to be a fan of more than one team in the same league.

I know what you mean. I still can't read about the Cowboys winning without thinking the zebras won even though the Lions self-destructed.

That is why I can't be a fan of only one team - once a Broncos fan, always a Broncos fan, even though I started liking the Jaguars later on.

The following article will remind you about the zebras that much more:

As long as it gives you more enjoyment/  peace of mind to root for more than one team compared to rooting for one team,   that's fine on this end.

Another difference is the teams we root against.   While I know you root against the Cowboys and Ravens,  even though they aren't in the same division with the Jaguars,  Broncos,  or Packers,  for me the teams I root against are the Vikings,  Packers,  and Bears.   When your team plays against a team at least twice a season,   there can be respect in some cases.    But the rivalries are the overriding factor.
Anchorman said several times he hates the officials in the game day thread. The DPI crap was just the worst of multiple errors by the zebras.

I somewhat agree with you and certainly understand what you are saying.  I am a fan of the game and try to follow the league as much as possible.  While I have been watching NFL football for well over 40 years (I too became a fan at a very young age) I have had several "favorite" teams over the years.  However, most of my life I didn't live in or near an NFL city.  Heck, the state that I grew up in does not have a franchise (N.M.).

Once Jacksonville was awarded the franchise, it all changed.  I now do have that one team that I'll always be a fan of.  I get season tickets when I can, and even though I currently don't have season tickets anymore, I still go to as many games as I can when I am in town.   I travel a lot for my job which is why I gave up being a season ticket holder a couple of years ago.

That being said, I think that the Cowboys certainly "won" the game with some help from the officiating.  I can remember watching the game with my wife and commenting several times on the bad officiating, especially in the Cowboy's favor.
Yeah the officials definitely helped Dallas, but the Lions publicly are reminding everyone it was their fault they could not overcome that.

Let it out D6, let it out.

This was a heartfelt post going all the way back to a young D6 at the tender age of 8.

I feel even worse for him know, because you just don't know how many more playoff opportunities your team will have.
Quote:Detroit has NHL, NBA, and MLB teams to entertain Lions fans in the offseason. That is better for sports fans than a minor league baseball team and arena football.

Neither of which I was talking about with my comment. Living in Florida>>>>>>living in Michigan.
Sorry D6. Y'all got the raw end of the stick from the officials.

Glad to hear you are still among us. Just keep telling yourself it's only a football game - it shouldn't control how you feel. (I know, I know).

Now, get along to your AA meeting (being a Lions fan and all I figure that's a given).

Exactly.

It's a shame because the refs clearly screwed up on that call.  As many have already indicated, it would have been better had they simply not thrown the flag.  By doing so, then picking it up without any real discussion, they created this cloud over the end result of the game.

I still think Detroit should have gone for it on 4th and 1 after that call.  At that point, why not?

They did want to go for it. The stupid delay of game penalty forced them to punt.
The delay of game had nothing to do with them punting, well it did afterwards. They were trying to draw the Cowboys offside which led to the delay of game. They should've just went for it.

How can the offense make a defensive player jump offsides? That is stupid coaching.

Do you not watch the NFL? It's done all the time. Aaron Rodgers is particularly good at getting defensive players to jump, via a hard count. It's not stupid coaching, although it isn't successful all that often. It's worth trying if you know you're going to punt anyway and the extra yardage for delay of game is no big deal.

Watch the games before commenting.
Someone needs to sit down with you and explain football to you. I am not trying to be mean but you are clueless.(MJF)
Adam, the scary part is that, I believe she does watch the games.
