Im still wondering why Fisch couldn't alter his gameplan to a vertical passing game from a horizontal one but give Bradley credit for having the stones to do what was needed. I do remember an old favorite poster of ours saying Bradley could be undone by his choices in coordinator's. I think he was right but Bradley put pride aside and could change his fate.

Marc Trestman favors downfield action and I'm sure Bortles will be thrilled to start throwing downfield again.
If some of the reports are true about the offense not liking fisch and he beliteling Blake at practice, i think that might have pushed Gus to fire him. Gus being a players coach and having everything positive yet your OC is berating your young Franchise QB. Im quite sure GUs couldnt fire him fast enough.

Fisch was terrible, I believe he said before he believed in accountability and he showed it, Fisch was the weakest link on the chain and got removed.

It's a year later than I would have hoped, but it's done, I'm actually excited about football next season.  If he can continue to improve the D, and bring in someone halfway competent to take over the offense with Bortles Robinson, Hurns, Lee and hopefully Blackmon it could be fun to  watch.

Lets fix the offense this offseason, we have some young talent to work with, that i think the right Cord could get the most out of. We fixed the Defense last season, lets now fix the Offense.

Agreed. Bring on the Offensive free agents (2 better be Olinemen), Trestman, and install a vertical passing game. Battle free for all this camp for #1 running back, And bring back out prodigal son JB

Edit: Upon further thought, Battle free for all for all of the O-line as well. <_<

SEVENTY SACKS. THIS IS NOT HARD STUFF.
Bass you bring up a good point, if we could improve this O line, i wonder how much better the Offense would be right there. We have a QB with talent, and we have a good young group of WR'S, i do question the RB position ( but was that due to the poor Oline) i have a feeling that if we can improve this O line, we could see a big difference right away with this Offense

Was about to post the same. Real tough one to decipher.

I believe the major difference was simply too many rookies at once and that followed by absolute garbage O-line play. One can only be fixed with time and the other is ripe for the targeting. I want every position of the O-line to have new names for competition. Bowanko and Linder might be the only ones that you could make a case for as far as pencil in starter.

3rd issue was the crap horizontal throwing and I think we just fixed that too.

If we can't protect on a three step drop, how do we expect to protect on a 7 step drop?

^^ this, the problem was talent. We couldn't stop a boulder from rolling uphill this season.
Probably a Khan/Caldwell decision.  I don't think Bradley does much original thinking.  He only copies and repeats what he has seen elsewhere.

I was doing some reading on Trestman and found a clip of him talking about game planning. The #1 thing on his list offensively? No, it's not how to get your wide receivers open. It's not how to get the ball to your playmakers. Those were number 2 and below on his list.

The #1?

How do we protect our quarterback?

I have no confirmation that Fisch thought differently, but it certainly didn't seem like it at times (Gerhart trying to block Watt? Seriously?). However, he did learn a lot from Spurrier...whose offense in the NFL weren't really known for protecting the QB.

Don't know how many times you have to be told that coordinators are the coach's decision.  But whatever.  Notice how Caldwell didn't say anything about Jedd being fired.  Gus dropped that bomb.
I think Bradley is the low hanging fruit people like to grab at. Coaches only do so much, at some point you have to accept the last 2 years the talents just simply not there. Has Bradley been flawless, no he's had a few bonehead mistakes but the way he keeps the team going even in the darkest of times is enough to stay to course with him. I'm looking at Caldwell to give him an NFL caliber roster then lets see what happens.

How many qualified OCs would really want to come in to this situation?  Get real.  Let's see.  My first job is to make the offense simple enough for my QB to understand it.  Got it.

really, 70 sacks? Good God...

I think this needs to be re-stated...again and again until fixed. Smile

It's the NFL. This off-season only 5 OC jobs are open so far.

This is exactly why Trestman is the OC this city deserves. Bradley needs a guy that he can trust to take on the entire offense without any hand holding, checks, or 2nd guesses. Trestman is that guy.
