HAHAHAHA ^

As rookies the gap isn't that large

Quote:Luck's a much better player at the moment, and he was better as a rookie as well. It's just the truth.

Bortles has a lot of potential, and I think he can take a big step forward next year, but until that happens, it's all just hoping.
This is the correct answer.
This how the majority of fans on here think. It's why they can't see this team for what it is. For this team to live up to the potential some think it has, they better have one of the greatest off seasons of all time.

I agree, check our the Prisco thread, and everyone is more delusional.
Who cares?  Bortles will be good enough to win if the Jags 22 are better than everyone else's 22.  There are at least 15 better QBs than Wilson and the Seahawks rolled the NFL last year.  There wasn't another team even close, including the Broncos led by the great Peyton Manning as we found out in the SB.

Would love to see you name them

Ok...click on every statistical category and he is 13-30 in every meaningful stat

Quote:Luck is extremely overated. Im not saying he is god awful but no where close to the hype and he gets worst ea season. BB5 has potential to surpass Luck

Worse each season?

38 tds. How is that worse than 21 tds?

That is this season. Look at 2013

I said he's not a top 15 QB and he isn't.  My point is that you don't have to have the best QB in the league if you have the best 22. If the Jags have a better 22 than the Colts then comparing Luck to Bortles doesn't matter.  Do you think Wilson is better than Manning?  We saw how that matchup turned out.
This guy says Luck isn't elite:

I agree, for the reasons he stated.  I've always called out Luck for how he gets baited into throwing INTs at the NFL level.  Kid thinks he knows the game as well as Manning, but he simply doesn't.  He over-thinks the game, gets too "cute", and has his lunch money stolen by NFL coordinators.  He still makes boneheaded picks a guy of his experience shouldn't be making, especially for one carrying so much hype.

So, yes.  I do think Bortles has the opportunity to be better.  If the writer is correct in that Luck isn't elite, I'd like to think Bortles can be.

The eye should be on the picks in the next couple years.  Bortles marginalizes them in a way Luck hasn't, and he has that chance.

How about you actually look at the results of the poll thus far and tell us more how the "majority of fans here think".

Maybe you wont look like an imbecile this time.

That's a heavy concept you are tasking him to try to understand! Maybe mommy can explain it when they are done with the abc song.
There's a lot of reaching in this thread, and the person saying Luck isn't a top 15 QB in his league is the same guy who probably thought Gabbert would be better.

Luck has a pretty miserable Oline and no running game, and he threw for 38 TDs this year. That's 16 more than the Jaguars all-time record for TD passes in a season.

The guy's at worst a top 10 QB, although I can agree with Pirkster that he may not be elite yet based on the interceptions.

To put it in perspective, if Bortles throws for 38 TDs in his fourth year, damn near everyone in Jacksonville would be doing the happy dance.
Bortles has a long way to go just to he mediocre. Someone like Dalton/Tanehill is mediocre, Bortles is not close to their level yet.

You said he wasn't a top 15 QB last year. You were talking rubbish.
In all fairness, in 2013, Wilson was 29th in Yards/Game and 22nd in pass attempts.  It's not as though they were relying on Wilson to win.  They relied on running with Lynch and Wilson's scrambles and the D...

I think that's what Rooster was trying to get at, and he aint that far off.  I don't see the hype that others see in Wilson.  And things are pretty much the same this year, with the exception that his passer rating and dropped to 16th in 2014 as opposed to 6th in 2013.
Quote:.  Infact Andrew Luck maybe the best Qb in the AFC.  Yes better than brady

You're smoking crack boy.

The question is which one 'can' be better, as in ceiling.  I think Bortles ceiling is higher, I think he has a better football mind, is more likable so he'll be a better leader and better body to mold into a perennial pro bowler.

Yes, luck is good.  But I think Bortles will be better.

Luck is lucky to play the crappy AFC South, when the AFC South gets better, luck will be nothing to worry about.
The INTs are what will keep Luck from ever being Rodgers, Peyton, Brady. As for Blake? Who knows. I'd take his potential over Dalton/Tannehill that someone else mentioned.

Like Rooster said though, it's not always all QB. Though it helps.

Rodgers team lost to Kyle freakin Orton's team. The Bucs beat Big Ben's team and Drew Brees' team has 6 wins...
